Hi,
I did a search, and couldn't find this specifically. I'm curious as to who gets the most miles on one fill up. I just picked up my '14 SL 2.5. I've driven over 700kms, and still have over 300 kms to empty so it stands to reason that I should get over 1000 kms (600 miles) on the first tank. 80% highway driving. I generally exceed the speed limit by about 15%, but gently accelerate, and anticipate light changes etc to achieve good fuel economy. I'll report back what I am able to achieve, and would appreciate others input to see how balanced it is.
Please post:
2.5 or 3.5
miles travelled on one tank
how much fuel was added
What that averages out to for fuel economy if you have calculated it.
Any other info to describe how you achieved that fuel economy
Imperial gallon has 4.54 liters, US gallon has 3.79 liters. Converted to US mileage its 39.2m/gal
I run 87 octane fuel, regular oil, stock everything, tires at 36psi cold.
When the temps dip to -25 like they did this winter, mileage drops. In 59,000km, my running average is 40mpg (33.4 USmpg) overall- 13AltimaSV's profile | Fuelly
Ended up with 920 kms (572 miles) on my first tank. Filled up with the distance to empty at 23kms and put in just over 72 liters (19 US gallons) after topping up a bit. Fuel tank capacity is listed at 68 liters. Cold snowy weather today in Ontario Canada kept me from getting more kms on the first tank. Looking forward to breaking the 1000 km mark. Oh yeah, 87 octane, 2.5 4 banger. 2014 SL. Thanks to everyone who replied! Keep em coming.
The Canadian brochure for the 2014 claims the car is capable of 5.1L/100 kms (55MPG) (based on imperial gallons rather than US gallons since we still have a strong allegiance with England I guess).
The brochure says "Altima's class-leading fuel efficiency helps get you 1335 highway kilometres on a single tank" That translates to 829.5 miles. I was hoping to see somebody post that they have achieved 1200 kms or 700 miles at least once, but not so far eh?
I think I could get over 700 on a tank, but my problem is over the time it takes to drive that many miles, I hit some city driving or traffic eventually! Or my other problem is in Texas I hit an 80mph stretch of road and I don't get good economy at 80 or 85mph. I think 700 would be difficult though.
When I have hit 600 miles, my average is around 33mpg. I have hit as high as 36.5 mpg over 300 miles on a trip once, but filled up before letting that tank play out. If I had not filled up and continued to get that economy that would only have been about 670 miles on that tank, so getting to 700 would require closer to 38 or better. It's probably achievable, but would be difficult.
After 36000 miles, 2.5 SL
Best mileage was 585, and that took 16.742 gallons to fill back up.
Next was 565, which took 16.82 gallons to fill up
And beyond that, I had a few of 545's, which took 16.521, 16.267, and 16.599 gallons to fill up.
Then there was also a 544 that took 17.199 gallons...close one! That one specifically showed an onboard mpg of 35.4, but hand-calculated was 31.63.
My most recent tank was 945 kms on 64.6 liters, which translates to 6.8L/100kms. In US terms, that's 587 miles, on 17 gallons, which translates to 34.5mpg.
just filled up yesterday and got another tank over 600 miles. 611 this time, and strange thing, it took 19.025 gallons to fill up!!!! The display said I still had 13 miles range left, but I knew I was cutting it close. Hand calculated, that came out to 32.1 MPG. This was probably 50/50 mix of city and local highway miles (to work and back, no out of town hwy miles).
I filled up today and put in 19.7 gallons. Travelled 586 miles, for an average of 29.7 mpg (U.S.) Too much lead foot, lots of high winds, and colder weather killed it for me on this tank. In Canadian terms, 74.57 litres, 943 kms, 7.9L/100km. Like to see that the fuel tank holds more that advertised. I do top it up. I was just under 30 kms to empty when I stopped, or about 20 miles. One of these days I'll see if it can hit zero before I stop.
but I have always been able to get more than advertised in the tank. I usually attribute that to the filler neck and topping off. I have regularly put just over 18 gallons in, but never 19 like I did the other day.
I've gotten 600 miles on a tank in the past, but it was all highway of course. I average 30.3mpg with a 52 mile round trip highway commute (plus an addition 12 "city") 5 days a week (rush hour traffic almost the whole commute home every evening might I add). When I merge i'm foot to the floor going through the gears (especially since my intake), when I get off the highway I rev-match my downshifts (6MT). Basically, I don't just "put-put" around and I still have a 30.3 average with my 2.5. So I love it!
1016 kms on 73.75 liters, which is 7.3L/100kms.
That's 631 miles on 19.48 US gallons, which is 32.4mpg, or 38.9mpg when using the Imperial UK gallon to calculate. I'm using an app called Petrol Usage Tracker to calculate. Nice app, and it will convert things to all 3 formats. Over 80% highway driving. Cruise set at 75 mph, or 121 km/h on the freeway. Don't worry, I won't report every single tank, just when I beat my previous personal best.
:woot:
New personal best today. 1044kms on 71.81L converts to 6.9 L/100kms (computer said 6.6). That converts to 649 miles on 18.97 gallons for 34.2mpg, or 41.1mpg Imperial.
:shift:
That's funny! I don't hear the sloshing because I always have the tunes cranked. Enjoying the Bose sound system in the car. If I didn't fill up all the way, there would be days I would have to fill up twice.
I would have had over 700 miles if I didn't fill it up. I live in Oklahoma and we can buy 100% gas and that is what I used to get this many miles on a tank. The computer says 40.1avg MPG but when I divided how many miles by how many gallons it took to refill my car it came out to 37.7MPG, I'm not going to complain about that.
That's great fuel economy! How fast do you drive on the highway? I just filled up on the way home, and my distance to empty said 1000kms for the first time. The car's computer seems to be getting smarter, as I have exceeded 1000 kms on the last 3 fill ups. I do squeeze in an extra 2 gallons or 8 liters after the pump first shuts off though. I'm assuming you top up too in order to achieve 700 miles. :bowrofl:
