Just realized that neither of the 12 volt power ports in my 2016 Altima SV are powered when the ignition is off. In my 2013, the port in the center arm rest console always had power.
I just do not understand how they would remove this feature. :frown
I don't think it's that way on my 2013, none of the 12v ports stay on. I remember having my Garmin plugged into that one in the arm rest and every time I stopped for gas it would prompt on the GPS to turn it off or continue on battery.
I definitely had it on my 2013 but it had the convenience package. Thought I was moving up from my 2013S to my 2016SV. Now I can not lower my front windows with the key fob or charge my phone while car is turned off.
The window down from remote feature was removed? That sucks. When I first got my 2013 sv I thought that's a weird option but I find myself using it a lot.
Oh all my power ports turn with with the ignition so who knows. Don't most imports turn off the power outlets? Actually I take that back, our Quest keeps one on. Rambling over.
The window down feature is available on any model S up as long as you request & get the convenience package. Also includes both front windows switched auto down & up. Some other options too I don't recall.
It would be simple enought to rewire a power port to stay on ,if you want to risk draining your battery.
probably a good thing. prevet accidental drain of battery.
Never had window down feature, or maybe I just don't know how it works?
For those who have it, can you outline how it works?
Thanks!
We have had Nissan cars in our family for decades and I don't ever remember any (save for a 1970 Datsun) that had a "hot" power outlet when the key was turned off. You need to have the car running or turn the key to the "accessory" position (as done when listening to the radio while parked, etc.) for the 12v socket to have power.
Every "domestic" vehicle I have owned (Ford, Chevy, International, etc.) has both power ports "hot" all the time - even without having the key in the ignition. Admittedly, I like this feature because I can leave my cell phone charging in my truck while I am out with a customer at work or doing some grocery shopping.
As someone else mentioned, you can probably wire it to make it "hot" all the time -- but you must remember to unplug the device from the power port to prevent battery drainage.
