Bad fix from Nissan (all must read!)

When you take your Nissan in for the passenger side airbag sensor light recall you're not going to be happy. The fix will turn on the yellow warning light whenever youíre driving the vehicle without a passenger! Yes, the big yellow light that is bright enough to land a plane by will not only be shining in your eyes ALL the time, at night it will reflect off your windshield creating a safety issue. Would you really have bought this vehicle with this light on? For those of you who are like me and have already had this recall done, are you happy with the fact that Nissan feels they can change the operation and appearance of your vehicle without your permission? Are you happy, depending on the model of Nissan you have, youíre now looking past a light to look out your windshield? I have called Nissan and started a claim that was closed today with the rep basically saying sorry but we donít care about you, this is how WE want to fix it, too bad so sad! Now is the time to call these people and let them know this is the last straw, fix it right or buy it back! 3.5 million vehicles recalled, 3.5 million unhappy and now ex-customers should get their attention, 3.5 million reasons Nissan will have no choice but to do the RIGHT thing and fix your vehicle RIGHT! 3.5 MILLION!

The light bothered me for a few days, but now I am used to it. Besides, it's not as bright as the blue LED light on my 12v power splitter (makes one outlet into three), portable SirusXM radio unit or my cell phone.

If it's that bad, I would suggest (not trying to be a smart ass) a small piece of black electrical tape to cover it.

To each his own but this doesn't bother me one bit. I barely even notice it, and do not think it is bright whatsoever. I'm just glad they addressed the issue as now the airbag sensor seems to at least work right. Nissan cares about being sued, not about one little yellow light.

Now the blue LED on my Escort radar detector Smartcord is another matter. I had to put black electrical tape over that as it is literally blinding it is so bright.

Other makes and models are always lit like that so it's not that big of a deal you can put tint over it or a piece of tape

I just got this update done the other day when I went in for my 40k oil/filter change, tire rotation, hood latch recall and CVT update.

The light does illuminate all the time now, unless someone is sitting in the passenger seat. The light does not bother me one bit, I actually like it.. it gives more illumination in the cabin.
No windshield reflection for me.

I wonder if 3.5 million customers have the same concerns with the light as you...

To put this all into perspective:

So far, Dean Gilles represents less than .00003% of those 3,500,000 customers who may consider this fix "BAD".

It would take 35,000 disgruntled customers just to reach 1%.
Somehow, I doubt that 1% even comes close to the threshold required for Nissan to task an engineering team to develop a "better" solution.

Dean Gilles will need to do some "Donald Trump type" campaigning to get his wish!
