saying going to 3" exhaust is going to give you power is also a "stupid overgeneraliztion." tube size really doesnt have much to do with a good exhaust. i guarantee the best exhaust for most of our engines (non-uber turbocharged) would be less than 3". backpressure is just a coined term which has nothing to do with how much power an exhaust makes. velocity and volume of exhaust gasses are the main factors. our cars only put out a certain volume of exhaust gas and if you can make it move as fast as possible without hindering the maximum output (volume) of exhaust gas, thats a damn good exhaust. the velocity creates a low pressure effect every time the exhaust valve opens. alot of the time if you just increase velocity you can cover up for a lack of volume.
blah blah. its not as easy as putting on a 3" pipe.
