That's what I figured you did... I've always wondered what photomatrix would do in a merge with two different compositions (with the same framed background). I thought that if a subject wasn't in all of the images (at least in the same location) being used to merge, that they may become partially transparent depending on the percentage of images they were in... But I guess it turned out for you.
Yeah exposure and all the settings could be difficult when you snap a shot, go move your car and come back for another shot. I guess one way to minimize those variables is to turn off all the auto settings on your camera, so make your camera take the pictures at a set exposure, aperture, white balance, and even manual focus, etc.
PS, I forgot to mention - DAMN thats a lot of bugs!!
