That's really no different than leaving your keys in the car. The majority of car thefts are from people who leave the car running at a convenience store, gas station, anything that's a quick stop. I never understood the point of leaving the car running... ever.
What you can do is if you have the keys with you and the car is still running, you can still hit the button on the door handle and it will work as normal with a full lock/unlock function.
