No, it won't work. With many of the the newer car designs, car manufacturers are taking advantage of a different design called, Controller Area Network (CAN). If you know how a computer Local Area Network (LAN) operates then you have the basis for how the CAN works.

The older speedometers in Nissans are electronic based while the newer Nissans are CAN based. What's the difference? Well instead of communicating via electrical signaling between control units, they communicate with each other through only two wires, and each control unit has its own CAN transceiver.

In summary, the Sentra has CAN connected to the ECU, ATCU, and combination meter (instrument cluster). While the older Altimas does not. The 2002 and newer Altimas even has a lot more systems integrated into CAN. So the disparity becomes wider.
