I've had nothing but problems with the continental tires; rotated them every 5k and still they had painfully uneven tread wear. One had parted steel belting and the other just went slow-flat driving on an interstate after having put air in it a day before.
I replaced the first two defective tires with Sumitomos and they do ride a bit quieter and smoother than the contis, but my opinion is subjective so others may disagree. As soon as the other two contis fail, which I predict will be in the next 12 months, I will replace them with Sumis as well.
