Gauging Interest: 93-01 Full Coilover Suspension (D2)

After contacting Tein about making full coilover suspension for the Altima community, I was basically told "Sorry, but no." Here's my letter:

Here's the actual reply:

Nick,

Yes, unfortunately we do not have any applications for the 1st generation Altima. I will submit your inquiry to TEIN Japan so they can conduct a marketing survey for your vehicle. This will give us a better understanding of cost efficiency and demand. Thank you for your interest in TEIN High Performance Suspension.

Best regards,
Sales

All that said, there is a new brand of full suspension that is heavily supporting the Nissan community...D2. Im sure some of you have seen them on Ebay here and there. While they are NOT full Tein FLEX systems, they ARE complete coilovers, not slip ons, like the Ground Controls (meaning this is a one piece replacement for your strut and spring)

So, I have found a local vendor/importer who has told me with a minimum of 5 people, he could sell them to us for $600 shipped per set. Even on ebay, they are at Buy it Now's for $999. He also has camber plates available for all four corners for $40 a piece that you add if you wish.

Lastly, D2 advertises them as for the 93-96 models, but I dont think there's any difference between the 93-01's because they all take the same Tokico struts, IIRC.

He just got the first order in for S13's, S14's, and B13/14/15's last Friday. He's placing another order in 2-3 weeks, it would take 30-60 days for them to get here from overseas, and you would have to prepay the $600.

Anyone interested? Please answer in the poll and post.

Mods: since this isnt an official GB, I didnt feel it appropriate there, and I figured we could get the most response here. Thx. Sticky if possible?

I've been waiting on reviews on the D2 for a while, it's a fairly new product and no much info. It looks promising though, I may get me a set.
Second gen. 98-99 struts & springs are the same as 93-97 for sure, so it should work.

Krack-

I have contact several vendors on this product. Best that I could find was $1000 bucks shipped, including all four camber plates. Not too bad actually. I have a ton of info on these because of all the people I have spoken with. You can actually adjust the actual size of the strut housing to allow for more travel room, so they are not only a complete coil over system, but they have both up and down dampering and extended travel room. I am definitely interested.

^Then vote! I need 5 definite buyers in 2-3 weeks before the next order gets placed.

And you have to prepay before he orders. Risky yes, but Im sure it will be well worth it.

krackmnkysnick, I just bought my Ksport coilovers for $725 with pillow ball mounts (caster camber plates). I will be recieving them in six weeks. D2 and Ksport are one of the same, in fact the only difference I've heard is the physical way of adjusting the dampening setting, not the actual dampening. Personally I like how the Ksports look (the color will set off my paint job). I also really like how I was handled at trix motorsports, they were very proffesional. Before any one tells me I paid to much there was a group buy for $625 with another set of springs included for the first thirty orders, I just chose to get the pillow ball mounts also.

Congrats! I hear they are getting really good reviews across the board so I wish you luck with your setup.

Anyone else want to get in on this setup?

Thought you guys might like to see the D2's installed on a couple of 240's on the last shipment that was received in.

Holy Moly!

About a year and a half ago, I started a JIC thread about the same subject. JIC would not even give full consideration to the idea unless the received 200 paid orders of $1600 bucks for a front set, ludicrous in my mind cuz that told me they were saying 'go jump in a lake'. Anyway...

Heck Yes Nick, I'm interested - been wanting this to happen for our community for literally 3 years now since I had thought about true coilovers for us.

If you can verify that this product is FULLY adjustable as Cray2 has mentioned, and confirm a firm cost for a set for all four corners, then count me in - like NOW!

Fred

*edit* I just voted DEFINITELY

Black Hornet, I can for sure verify that the Ksports I'm getting are 36 way adjustable, and can be ordered with caster camber plates (like the ones peterson has from stillen). I'm not sure on the specific drop in inches, but I do know with Ksports you can actually choose your spring rates for the front and rear. I hope this answered your questions, or atleast reassured you a little more. Get those D2's!!!!!!

Well, the list so far is:

me
skizot
Fred
and another unnamed...

If we can find out who that is, and then get one for person, we can pull it off.

Unfortunately I won't be able to get in on this deal since I bought a set of GC/Toks last year, but I met up with a friend with an S13 on Saturday night. He's an avid drifter and was one of the first on Zilvia to get a set of the D2s. He loves them and they're holding up great thus far. Just thought I'd share that.
