I just use a damp cloth, 409 to get marks off. I don't have to worry about 'dust repel' because I keep a micro fiber cloth in my console and wipe the whole dash area down as soon as i start the car, waiting for the a/c to pump out decent temp.
If I were to use a liquid I'd probably use Meguiar's interior detailing spray. But, I'm pretty skeptical about anything that could resemble Armorall. I hate it with a passion.
you hate armorall? that stuff is great. cleans, shines protects. its all I use on the interior of my cars. not completly sold on their car wash yet though.
the reason why i hate it is it promotes dash cracking. I also hate that greasy feeling that is associated with it. I won't let it be used in my car. A carwash detailed another car I owned with it (after telling them I'd rather them use sandpaper before a.a.) and I made them take a rag and clean it out. They were kinda angry

Correct on all aspects. Armorall is the pinnacle of CHEAPNESS as far as interior cleaning products, much like TurtleWax is the ultimate in CHEAPNESS for exterior products. Nothing cheap will ever touch the inside or outside of my car. Pay to Play. Get something like 3M Interior Leather/Vinyl cleaner or any other interior cleaner from autogeek.net.
I've used it on my 200sx (black interior) for 9 years now, and never a crack. hasn't fadded, looks as good as the day I bought it. and considering the quality of plastics nissan was using in '98, it's a hell of an endorsment. also, my cars are not garaged or covered. I can see how the headrests in the back have fadded, along with the deck behind the rear window. they used to be a dard grey, but are now very light. but the armoralled plastics are in perfect shape. although I do agree about the greasy feeling, but that goes away after a little while. day or so maybe.

You should try 3M then. You get that clean, new look without the greasy feel or greasy look. It doesn't look "cheap". By "cheap" I mean that artificial looking shine... it just looks... well... bad.
I don't know if anything will get rid of all the shine, the quality of plastic in that car is about on par with the keyboard I'm typing with. But, if its not too expensive, might give it a try sometime. I couldn't see paying 3 or 4 times as much though, as the armorall has left the car looking the same as it did in oct of 98 when I bought it. then again, the much higher quality plastics (not to mention textured) in my altima might bennifit more from a higher quality treatment. 3m doesn't offer samples or anthing do they?
Not to crazy about ARmor.. Too much shine :-). I like products similar to black magic. Does not leave a shine. I generally like stuff I can pick up from the autostore. I guest I will start checking out the smaller places like carquest and napa, and O reilly

no, no samples that I know of. Here is the link. Break down and get some they're not that expensive...
Me too microfiber and water is enough. This crap make the dust stick to it and when you pass another layer, you don t remove the dust but incorporate it to the greasy finish. How many time i have to remove it from cutomer car because they just hid the crap under greasy finish. Armor all and similar product are good to hid scratches and defect but i never use it on the entire dash. But it is a question of taste. I only use them to detail the engine bay.
