I recently got a set of Nismo 18" rims in bronze for my Altima, I was hoping to put some wax on them to protect the paint, but not sure what's the best for this?
Any good brand wax will do just fine. I use mothers carnauba on my paint and rims. Waxing rims is great to keep the brake dust from sticking, but once you clean them with wheel cleaner it strips all the wax off and you have to wax them again. If you can keep up with it it will keep the wheels looking awesome for a very long time though.

On a similar topic, what do you recommend to put on tires to give that shine finish? I got the car back from the tire shop and boy those tires look shiny. I've used the touchfree foamy stuff before (can't think of the name), but whatever the tire shop used has a very rich finish to it. I suppose I can ask them if they'll let me know.
for really shiny tires you want to find something that is silicone based. in the store dab it on your fingers and it should feel slick....that's what you want. I can't tell you any brands because I use the stuff I make in my shop, but it is silicone based, and that is what will give the tires a wet look.
I removed each wheel and fully stripped and cleaned it with wheel cleaner. Then applied 2 coats of wax. Lasts a while if you use gentle wash soap (no wheel cleaner). Sooooo much easier to clean.
I dont know about other wheels, but the stock SE wheels are so easy to clean, I basically dont have to do anything other than using the same soap i use to wash the car and a sponge, other than the one i use to wash the rest of the car.
Spray with water, clean and they're as clean as new.
You can always use a cleaner wax to do them if you want.
