there is a nissan 200SX that i plan to buy the problem is the engine doesn't go over 3000 rpm car is a manual trans 1.6 liter engine in neutral its ok but when you put it in gear 3000 rpm is as high as the engine goes any ideas or
suggustions greatly appriciated
I would at least have the engine pressure tested first. If the engine and trans are okay then I would like at the fuel pump or the ECM, the computer are cheap enough to have an extra. $20 on ebay, I got one at the junk yard for $10.
Also could be something with the ignition system, maybe the distributor cap was retarded and needs centered?
its the maf. if its bad it wil do this happend to me on a couple of times.
MAF would let you rev in neutral but when driving not go over 3k? or the MAF put you in limp mode? Not saying your wrong, just wondering... I've had MAF issues and when faulting it was bad in neutral or in gear. It just kept trying to die and would not idle or start right. Would that be a difference with Manual or Auto? I know they have different ECMs and idle at different rpms? Sure the air/fuel maps are different too.
