Go to The V Board or B15 Sentra.Net, bargains on springs, catbacks, intakes, etc. especially can be had.

S(leep)E-R exhaust

what's the catback and/or exhaust combo that sounds the LEAST like it's been modded? I don't want to advertise what I've done or drive around with a 4" tip. Looks like Megan makes one that has the dual tips like the stock muffler, but I've never heard it.

Yeah, I'm with him. I installed a header a while ago (really beneficial mod by the way), but never installed a cat-back system. Unfortunately most cat-backs are really loud and obnoxiuos under full throttle. Really great if you want to attract attention. There has to be a nice deep mellow exhaust out there. I've also considered putting on one of those cheap ebay cat-backs on and then chopping off the muffler and putting on something like a dynomax muffler on. I put a dynomax muffler on a vehicle several years ago and loved the way that it sounded - It wasn't the straight-through design but it was a high-flow design which had rounded edges or some crap on the inside I believe.

?
why would you waste the money about 200 on a catback plus shipping and wait time then rid everything on it .......

when you could goto any exhaust shop or do it on your own and run straight pipe to a dynomax muffler for about under 100$ yourself 150 - 200 for experienced personal to do it?\

\
\just wondering

Agreed, I tout the Dynomax mufflers to anyone, they really control sound well and keep the exhaust sounding deep. I got custom done at an exhaust shop pretty cheap, but the caveat of course is crush-bend versus mandrel bent purchased catbacks.

I don't think that it is a complete waste getting rid of just the muffler on a cat back system. I would be hard pressed to make one myself or have a shop do it for that kind of price with the flanges welded on so it would bolt up and the hangers in the right place etc., etc. Where I live kind of sucks for that kind of custom work anyway. I've seen some "custom" work before and wasn't impressed with the work for the price that they paid. I would rather take some stainless pipe with me to work and bend it on a electric conduit bender (I'm a comercial electrician) which would make some really nice, smooth, large radius bends (much nicer than those exhaust benders that make those crimped bends). Of course the job that I'm on right now doesn't have a hydraulic bender there though. If I really wanted to use one though, I could probably call around and find one on another job or something. Keep that in mind dudes, if you know any electricians and want some exhaust tubing bent, tell them to do it for you at work. It would have to be 2", 2 1/2", or 3" (nothing like 2 1/4").
One last thing. I know that the power gain benefits from aftermarket exhausts aren't much, but I was wondering if anyone knew if the little bit of power gained was from the improved tubing (better bends and/or larger diameter) or was it from the high flow mufflers? The reason that I asked was because I might just try to hack off the factory muffler and put a dynomax one on in its place. Maybe the factory exhaust isn't as restrictive as it looks???

Great buy on the tires, I just replaced my H4's with a new set. The first set lasted 55K and had 6 nails, 3 in one tire since the 1st week I bought them.

Well, I went ahead and done did it. Switched out the yellow fog light overlays for the smoke. I like the look, not sure if I like it more than the yellow yet. My application skills still suck, but you can't tell unless you're on 'em.

Throttle Body Spacer, $75
Bought Here

Installed

Impressions

First, I followed the directions and disconnected the negative batter cable before working on it. Apparently those who don't can get bad idles and CELs.

Idle is up about 50rpms or so, and sometimes when coasting to a stop out of gear it'll hang at 1500rpms for a couple of seconds, but always drops to normal by the time I stop. I think both are part of the ECU learning, I'll know for sure in a week or so.

Some people notice immediately an increase in torque (which is what's it's more known for on the low end), and that's good for me since I've got a WAI for the high end anyway. I think the most immediate difference is my high gear acceleration. Say, trying to go from 50-65 in 5th gear, it definitely pulls more than before. That's what my a$$ dyno says, anyway.

It'll take a couple of fill-ups to determine if there's any bump in gas mileage, but so far my findings are in line with the other buyers.

Verdict: Recommended

Scanguage 2

My wife's SUV has that digital readout with the MPG, average MPG, distance to E, etc., and it like consumes my attention when I drive it. But no such luck for my SE-R, I have one of the no-frills versions.

So I looked up the Scanguage 2 online, and after reading glowing reviews, decided I wanted it. Got it today, and now I'm in instant-data bliss. Calculates everything from MPG to Throttle Position to Intake and Manifold temp and also pulls/clears codes.

Plugs right into the OBDII port below and to the left of the steering wheel. I'm still trying to get my cabling straight and subtle, as I have placed it on top of the steering column.

For those few of us that do NOT have the readout built-in and are the it-takes-17-minutes-to-reach-Point-B and constant-mileage-calculators, recommended.

i got a 03 sentra ser with a KN cold air intake for about 200 brand new. If you want to make your car a ton louder without doing anything else, this is what you want. as soon as it hits about 4800 you can really really hear the engine breath!

hello! i have a 2002 specV. i have done so much to it that it's hard to remember everything. i don't remember how long it took to install everything. starting off with the interior,
-i've custom painted various panels and pieces to match the color of the car outside.
-reverse EL glow white face guages that you can change from blue to green.
-mechanical flip down cd, mp3,dvd, head unit.
-type S shift knob coupled with a greddy short shifter
-EL glow racing pedals (red)
-2 12" audiobahn subs in custom enclosure w/ 450 watt amplifier and 2 capacitors. *i've since removed this due to installing an unorthodox racing underdrive pulley because my battery was draining too quickly.*
-----now exterior----
-stillen front lip
-evo 2 sideskirts
-stillen rear lip
-blacked out tails and reverse lights (layovers)
-red eyelids on headlights
-eibach sportline suspension lowered 2 inches in rear and 1.5 inches front.
-R1 GTR-4 rims w/ Y rated sport tires sized 205/40/r17
-Brembo big brake kit w/ slotted and drilled rotors 12" front 10" rear
-steel braided brake lines
-35% dark black tint front windows and limo black tint rear
---performance---
-previously mentioned unorthodox racing underdrive pulley
-skunk2 intake manifold
-AEM CAI
-meghan racing header coupled to full greddy exhaust
-nismo cams
-nismo cam gears
-stillen front sway bar
-ECU reflashed and top speed limiter removed (as well as my warranty)
-crower rods, lifters, and springs
-painted valve cover red to match exterior paint, powdercoated block (blue)
-Greddy diverter kit
-ACT clutch and flywheel
-Greddy oil catch can
----plan to----
-turbo charge this beast when i get the money and time!
-carbon fiber hood
-repaint car darker pearl red as well as all other painted parts to match.

i have pics of most of these mods but they are too big to put on here. hit me up at b15serspec_v@yahoo.com if you want me to email you some of them. put forum pic request in subject or i'm liable to delete it without reading.
