short ram intake questions!

so i was thinking of getting a short ram intake for my spec. reason for not getting a cold air intake system is that i live in canada bc and it rains tons over here and puddles are deeeep. anyways what are the best intakes to install? what comes to mind is aem, K and N. what else? and i hate seeing the ses light.. do these intake systems have all the sensor spots just so that yellow devil doesnt reappear? what do you guys have and what you think!

First question for you is how much do you want to spend on an intake system? A simple short ram intake works best on the QR in my opinion. That being said any name brand intake or custom made intake will work just fine and you don't have to worry about any sensors tripping the ses light. The factory MAF housing stays in place and is reused. In the picture(cold air intake) you can see the stock MAF housing between the piping still being used.

would like to spend under 250. oh good just makes my decision easier of getting a short ram instead of the cold air! alright haha thats awesome cuz that ses light suckks. but really appreciate the help. i m thinking aem. but another question.. will just putting in a cone filter do the same thing? or is it better to just spend the extra money for the short ram?

Just buying a MAF adapter and cone filter won't be quite the same. It is worth it to get rid of the all the factory tubing. Plus the sound will be even sexier than just a cone filter. If I were you I would get something like the JWT pop charger and buy a piece of intake tubing to go between the throttle body and MAF. If you want an all in one package then I would go with something like the AEM short ram intake.

No problem and installing an intake is pretty straight forward. Even if you have never done it before and you take your time it should only take an hour. The biggest pain in the butt is removing all of the factory intake system. Just look under your hood before you get the intake and inspect it and imagine where the intake will go. If you have any concerns or questions snap some pictures and post them and ill try and answer them for you. besides posting in here you can post in the 02-06 altima engine performance section since the 2.5 altima has the QR25 as well. More people in there and you should get more responses and quicker.

before you get an AEM, or K&N you should really do your research about the Weapon R Secret Weapon Short Ram Air Intake.......probably the best bang for your buck.

Any dyno's or proof? I just have a hard time buying into the "Secret" weapon intake. A tube with another tube inside just sounds like turbulence and decreases air flow plus foam filters blow. But if you do research look for third party unbiased info and not the crap weapon-r feeds from their own website.

Yeah an Ebay intake would work just fine. They usually base their design off of the name brand intakes but you do get what you pay for. The no name Ebay intakes come with lower quality parts like cheap couplers and maf adapter. The filter is the one thing you will want to ditch for a name brand filter like AEM, Fujita, or K&N. The Ebay filters don't filter that well which will let more dust and small particles into your engine you don't want there.
