Stock Fog/Driving lights

Hey guys, I have an 03 GXE. I do not have stock fog lights, only plastic cups in the bumper where they would be located. I also looked up there and I have tied off wire connectors. I am 99 percent sure these are wires for the stock fog lamps. I would like to utilize these wires to install fog lamps and I have some questions. 1) where is the stock switch location? I do not see any switch blanks in the dash, so I don't even know where these wires would get there power from. 2) Do the stock fog lights have their own fuse or is the fuse tied in with a different circuit such as the head light circuit. 3) is there a relay in the stock wiring to activate the fog lamps, or is this also powered by a different circuit such as the head lights. I appreciate all your help. Any pictures and descriptions of these components would be of great help. Thanks

should be able to find wiring diagram in FSM, as far as i know with my 02 SER, the fog light switch is a twist-style ring on the headlight switch with a simple on/off and has a relay tied into the lo-beams where the fog lights only come on when headlights (not just parking lights) are switched on (while fog light switch is set to on) and turns off when the hi-beams are switched on.

I found this in the FSM. Doesn't say where the relay is located though. Looks like a fairly easy addition, but I'll probably just use an aftermarket switch rather than use the stock combination switch posted above.

System Description EKS006AJ
Power is supplied at all times to front fog lamp relay terminal 5 through:
15A fuse (No. 43, located in the fuse and fusible link box.)
With the lighting switch in headlamp “ON” (2ND) position, “LOW BEAM” (B) position, power is supplied:
through 15A fuse (No. 39, located in the fuse and fusible link box)
 to lighting switch terminal 5
through terminal 7 of the lighting switch
to front fog lamp relay terminal 1.

FOG LAMP OPERATION
The front fog lamp switch is built into the combination switch. The lighting switch must be in headlamp “ON”
(2ND) position and “LOW BEAM” (B) position for fog lamp operation.
With the front fog lamp switch in the ON position ground is supplied:
to front fog lamp relay terminal 2
through the front fog lamp switch
to body grounds E7 and E37.
The front fog lamp relay is energized and power is supplied:
from front fog lamp relay terminal 3
to terminal + of each front fog lamp.
Ground is supplied to terminal - of each front fog lamp through body grounds E7 and E37.
With power and ground supplied, the front fog lamps illuminate.

That is exactly what I was thinking about doing. Did you use the stock wires or run new ones?

I used a pilot switch kit that came with the blue halo driving lights i had on my car for a while. it had really cheap switch so i just bought the blue switch to replace it, but used the wiring and relay switch that came with kit on my halos. still have the stock wiring hooked up to the fog lights.

i have an 01 sentra gxe. Just bought a kit off ebay. thought i had an idea what i was doing. tried installing them. looks great, but they dont work. NEED HELP PLZ!!! am very desperate
Im going to take it apart tomorrow and look at the wires again and diagnose the problem if i can
they are oem lights so they fit right in no problem. they even hook up to the oem wiring. I tried that first, took the horn fuse out, and put it in the fuse spot that says fr fog light. turned on the lights, didnt work, so i started using the kit that it came with.

Kit included:
-fog lights
-the big wire that runs to both fog lights and has the relay, ground, fuse, and little metal circle that connects to the battery
-another medium size wire that has the switch that turns em on and off that fits in my dash where the trunk switch is, and has an end to it that fits...
-...another small blue and white wire that came with it.
-and a red small wire similar to the blue and white one that i have no idea where to connect to.

I am so lost
the kit was supposed to come with a diagram but didn't

any help would be very greatly appreciated and save me from loosin my hair from all the stress

The reason the stock wiring didn't work is because you are missing the relay. I have been trying to get someone to take a picture of their stock relay so I know where the wires lead, however, no one has done it yet. Also, did you hook up the switch for the stock wiring? Anyway, now on to your new problem.

If you are using a kit now, there should be 4 wires you need to hook up. I am going off your description, so if you blow stuff up, don't blame me...double check before you apply power. The smaller wires are only for the coil side of the relay. These are low current and only used to trigger the higher current bigger wires. The coil will be wired to ground and a trigger. The trigger is whatever you want it to be (trigger must be on for the fog lights to come on). For example, most people hook the trigger wire up to either the headlights or an ignition hot. If you hook it up to the headlights, the fogs will not come on unless the headlights are on. Next come the two terminals that are connected when the coil is closed. One will connect to the battery and the other to the fog lights. These should be the bigger wires. If there are 5 wires, you can ignore the 5 wire. This wire is used to turn off the fogs when the high beams are on. If you want that feature, you'll have to ignore what I just told you and wire it completely different.

oops, sorry i meant i switched the horn relay to the fog light relay in the relay box. it already has a fog lamp fuse in it. so im back to square one, either..
a.) taking all my new wires out, hooking the lights up to the oem ones, and possibly getting a new stalk, or do i even need one?
b.) finding a diagram of the new wires and mixin shit up to make it work.
drilled the hole in the firewall yesterday*

well you have a leg up on me. I do not have any fuse labeled FR FOG LIGHT. So I'm not sure where it is suppose to go. I have about 6 blanks under the dash without labels so I don't know what the blanks would be used for. Also, the two boxes under the hood don't have labels, so I don't know what relay is what in the relay box. The box next to the battery has one fuse spot open, but again, no labels. Can you please post a picture of the fog lamp relay and fuse for me?

Also, did you completely re-wire the lights or are you still trying to use the factory lights?

In the second picture, is that a connector that you are holding (attached to the red/green wire)?

One more thing, while everything is torn apart, can you lay everything out in and take a picture of the connectors, fittings and wires, switches, everything you have. That might help me figure out how it all hooks up. Also, are you in Tucson by any chance?

here is basic diagram, ignore colors, they are just for you to keep track of what you have hooked up to what color... and remember that there can be varying designs that will still function same way.

my kit had wires for the halos included, but seeing as i used the whole kit just for my halos, i simply just snipped those out of the loop and used the main wires to hook up to. i'll try to take some pics today or tomorrow to help illustrate what i'm talking about. but it basically followed the diagram linked above.

just guessing from your kit. i'd say that maybe the red is possible illumination for switch, the blue/white one might be for hooking up to your lo beam wire as a 'supply'? try to google fog light diagram and look through them until you find a set up like yours. if you have brand name fog lights, you might be able to find mfg diagram if you get lucky.

here is the sentra wiring diagram for stock fog lights:
