brake and battery light flicker

I have a 2001 sentra and when this happens,it's gone in a blink of an eye. Some say it might be the alternator or a belt, Any idea?

The alternator is on its way out. Those two lights together are nissan's way of telling you that.

I just got a re-built alternator a couple of years ago. Do they go bad that often or what?

They can, yes. Actually, the alternator in my aunt's car was making a high pitched whistle and she wanted it replaced, so I put a remanned one in there and it was bad. The battery light came on after about an hour of driving. I put the old one back in and it was fine until she sold the car (with the exception of the whistling noise).

With the remanufactured ones, unfortunately, you don't know how long their gonna last. Could be 10 years, could be a couple years, or could be a couple hours, lol.

I really appreciate the feedback, thanks Joe. My car has 190,000 miles and I've been looking into the Maxima S/SV models.

No problem. The Maximas are nice cars. And you get the power of the VQ35
