How to get some horse power in my Spec V

Hello all, I am new here, this is my first post. I am the proud new owner of my first Spec V. It's a 2005. I don't know much about these cars, motors and performance. I know after a test drive, I had to buy this car . Anyway, I want some more power, a turbo is outta the question for now. So I'm thinking full exhaust and intake is my best bet, right? If i do a complete "megan racing" exhaust will I lose my low end torque? After all the torque from 1st to 3rd is the funniest thing about this car. Any suggestions?

Congrats on the car!

Great TQ out of these engines for sure, Header is #1 for Power and Safety!! Sadly the pre-cat is the DEVIL on these engines, Altima 2.5L 02+ also..the pre-cat is known to break up and cause engine failure. So header is best, eliminates the pre-cat, so no worries, engines breaths way better and you get Great Gains from 3k-Redline out of most 4-1 headers. Intake and Exhaust would compliment the header mod, easier air can enter/exit engine ,less it works = more Power you make pretty much. Feel free to PM me about more info/header options.

Enjoy!

Mark

Thanks! Ive seen a lot about this cat problem with these cars, I do wanna change out exhaust soon. Will a performance header bolt right up to my stock pipes? And then to continue with a performance exhaust, I would then buy a "mid pipe"? And from the mid pipe, would i need an axle back, or cat back? Ha-ha. Sorry so many questions, I'm kinda clueless here, I've been playing with low rider trucks for past few years, so I'm better at swapping out parts, I don't know much about the performance part of all this.

Sorry, I missed this.

Yeah Pre-cat is the worst on this engine. Yes 1pc header will bolt right up to stock midpipe. You are correct, Header, Midpipe , Cat section, Catback / Axle back.

Thanks!
