can you hook up a laptop to the obd II

i was looking around online and would like to hook up a laptop to my car to monitor some of the sensors and if it ever throws codes look them up. is this possible to do and if so what would be a good way of going about this? thanks

you can buy a obd2 to usb. but then you need the software as well. and it gets pricey, i think the cheapest i found the cable for is around 50. and the software im sure you can get it online somewhere for free. but i havent looked. i heard it can run 300+.

if you find any of it for cheaper. let me know.

i was looking around online and found this website. OBDPros
not sure if it will work for the car or not. i am trying to be able to read the a/f guage and stuff so i dont know if this will work.

just found this web site as well. seems like it has more programs to run and monitor the car.
