Just venting...I replaced my old DEH45 CD player in my work van less than 2 years ago with a Pioneer 5500 and during the last few months it has had problems ejecting the CD-sometimes only spitting it out an inch or so. This happened to be the same reason I replaced the old DEH45. My other 5500 in my car has done it a couple of times lately as well (purchased 6 mos later)...
I've read that even ones w/8xx and 9xx models have had this experience which may prevent me from buying another. I was wanting one w/the 13 band EQ but if problems like this plague Pioneer, I may have to turn to a new Alpine HU....
Looks like I bought into a bad batch.....even a local (Memphis,TN) audio shop mentioned having to send a number of HUs back because of some other problems that affected a number of theirs...I should've gone w/the Premier model but just took for granted that they had the whole CD ejecting thing down pat .....Oh well.
i am 0 for 3 getting pioneer decks (over a 5 year span)... I believe they have bad QC....
the next three people that i know that got Pioneer decks got bad decks. One had a bad board, another had a button that stuck all the time, and one of the moderators on here, TL had a button that would stick sometimes. I believe Kenwood has higher QC.

Well the Pioneer had 3 features that I primarily preferred....rotary knob, built in high/low pass filters and a crisp good looking display w/o motion graphics,etc....maybe I'll try the Premier line next time, I don't know.
I still am considering Alpine as well. RThompson, do you recommend Kenwood HUs?? Any others that have great quality?
Steer clear of Kenwood. They are trouble and tend to overheat. I knew a few guys who each worked at different shops and they said that the Kenwoods are brought back the most for warranty work or work to be done on them. Get an Alpine or Eclipse.
I have had various Pioneer headunits and speakers 10 years now. Has never let me down.

I bought my first Pioneer HU in 1990 and have used them ever since with each new car except for one sidestep over to a beautiful Kenwood Excelon a few years back. Maybe it's just me, but I've never had any issues with any HU. I'm currently running hot a FH-P5000MP and cannot complain.
