Polk db691 fitment

I'm looking to buy some replacement speakers this week and I was looking at the Polk Audio db691's for the rear deck. I went to crutchfield.com to confirm fitment but after putting in all the info, the site says these specific 6x9s will not fit. I would like to know if they actually fit and it's just the site, or if they indeed do not fit and WHY they don't. If it's the height of the tweeter, I can definitely fix it to where I won't have an issue there...

Thanks

P.S. Thoughts on these specific speakers would be a plus as well.

They should fit, there's plenty of clearance.

My opinion is this though - replace the fronts with the best component set that you can afford, amp them, and then you won't even need new 6x9's.

Well, I was planning on doing polk all the way around, 6x9s in back 6.5 comps in front. I believe the model is db6501...yea, that's it... If I amp my comps, should I just unplug the 6x9s if I don't upgrade them or just leave them stock and hooked up to the receiver? I've always upgraded all four without even thinking. BTW I'm not doing a sub if that makes any difference...Not yet anyway.

EDIT: are the db6501's any good or am I wasting my money on them? They have great reviews in all the sites i've seen. Or should I hold out for the SR's or a set of Focals? Right now, the budget only allows for not more than $200, but maybe in 6mos time that'll change. Thanks guys.

Thanks guys, I've decided to buy the 6x9s now and later on save up for a good set of comps and amp all of it. I might do a DIY of the deck speakers with pics means there really aren't any that I could find.

GREAT comps!! I have them for about half a year now, couldn't wish for anything better, especially for that price. Very loud and clear, increadable mids, crystal-clear highs.

btw per Crutchfield AND Polk Audio site db5601 weren't supposed to fit in my 4th gen front door but they did without any modifications, i just had to get a different adapter (15$)

I ordered the 6x9s. They'll be here in a couple days, but I decided to tackle the deck cover removal...THAT was straightforward. Took me about 15 minutes. A lot easier than I thought it was gonna be. Thanks for your help. Next month I'm getting the comps. That should be interesting. I wanna put em on the A-pillars but it looks to be a little tricky. Hopefully not, and it will provide decent imaging there.

So, a buddy and I just finished installing the 6x9s and I can say I'm not too impressed with their performance so far. A couple things I did notice were a)these are 4 ohm and stocks were 2 ohm, so I do lose a little right off the bat, no big deal. B) Not much bass coming from either one when at a decent volume, but if I unhook either the right or left speaker, the other gets noticeably louder...Not sure what this means but I did check the wiring and they're hooked up correctly. No amp, just aftermarket stereo, Alpine 9857, stock wire. Any help would be appreciated. I was thinking I may need to run some heavy-gauge wire straight from the stereo to the speakers...

Switch the + and - on one of them, they are more than likely wired out of phase, which is why when one is disconnected you get a lot more output.

Yea, I did that. I went through all configurations as far as the hookups go. Then I checked the wire diagram and that's exactly how I have em hooked up. I didn't install the head unit so it's possible CarToys messed up... I'll check it out after we get rid of this damn rain. Thanks.

Well, I haven't had time to mess with wiring (7 day work weeks )

But I have to say they've warmed up quite well. They sound really good compared to stock and only being pushed by the HU. And for not listening to ANY Polk car speakers before deciding to buy... I'm still planning on running high-grade speaker wire to them (maybe this afternoon when I get off??) cause the speaker wire running to them now is like 22ga and im looking for more of a 12-14.

As far as the amp goes, I used to have the JL 500/1 for my MTX subs and it rocked. How is the 4 channel JL Audio amp? Compare to others you've used please.

I really wouldn't bother changing the wires.

I've never used the J/L amps so I cannot comment on those.
