Request for ECU binary files for '95 - '99 Altimas
I would love it if someone could get me any binary ROM dump for a '95, '96, '97, '98, and '99 Altima ECU. My intentions are to build TunerPro XDF files and extend ECU tuning files to those Altima ECUs.
Another option: If someone has any of those year ECUs sitting around, that wouldn't mind mailing it to me, I can do the dump and post it here for everyone. I'll mail back the ECU once I'm done.
Let me know if anyone can help out with this. Thanks. -jserrano
This XDF file will most likely also work for the 95 and 97 year Altima. But it has yet to be confirmed, until the binary file for other year models, are analyzed to see which are fully applicable.
There will be updates to this post as changes comes about.
On a another note, I will soon build a separate thread to collect all the binary files, and also list who made those contributions. Stay tuned...

Reason: Fxied links
I called the local Pick'n'Pull the other day and I can get a '96 altima ECU pretty cheap. If/when I get it I'll swap it in my car and mail you my '99 ecu so you can get the binary dump. If the construction jobs that I just got lined up don't fall though I'll have the spare money to do this. I'll keep you posted via PM. My enthusiasm towards the altima is slowly returning!

I would really appreciate that. I will be sharing all those binaries for anyone to download some time soon.
Keep in mind that in order to get that '96 ECU into your '99 Altima will require that you also pull the '96 ECU harness plug. Also, the '96 ECU is the only ECU from the '95-'97 family that comes with a different ECU wiring requirement for both the FED and for CAL. While the '95 and the '97 ECU uses the same ECU wiring for both FED and CAL.
No Problem man! I didn't realize that I would have to pull the harness plug/wiring as well. I thought that I could just solder the jumpers inside the '96 ECU you posted in the other thread regarding using the JWT ECU in the 2nd gen and then plug the '96 ECU directly into the '99 plug. If I am understanding everything correctly I will have to splice all the wires from the '96 ECU plug into my '99 harness, right?

Racincc85, thanks for bringing this up. YOU ARE CORRECT!!! You DO NOT have to pull any ECU harness plug. The "JWT ECU in the 2nd gen" is correct in my observations. I don't know what the hell was I thinking when I posted your response over here. Lately I've been chasing so many ECU wiring lists, even amongst the other Nissan families like the S14, B14, etc., that it has left my brain mushy.
So proceed with your plans and hopefully I will have the writeup ready before you begin your project.

hmm, so there is some truth to this? 96 CAL into 97-99 with no jumpers? thats my guess...

You are correct. I guess by the time I get a writeup posted you'll have it all figured out and there won't be much surprises left over. Keep analyzing the schematics and things will actually becomes clearer the more you work with it.
Update 04/16/09: Here is the link for some ECU pinouts.
let it be known to anyone who followed the last few off-topic posts, i bought a 96 CAL ECU to use as a spare/for research and just received confirmation from Calum that he cannot work with this board. apparently its not only the wiring requirements that are different between FED and CAL in 96. so, if you have a 96 ECU, the FED version only can be used with a Calum daughterboard.
for reference, the 96 CAL ECUs that will NOT work:
Manual - JA18D99 EP0
Auto - JA18E00 EP1
I don't know whether or not JWT can use them, but I know Calum cant. thats all for now...
EDIT: sorry for destroying your thread j, i just didnt know where else to put it where it wouldnt be info coming out of nowhere.
Damn dude, that is a real bummer. The CAL '96 Altima ECU would've probably been the best option swap for those in the 95-97 range. I just checked the JWT website and they can indeed do the '96 Altima ECU for CAL.
If JWT can interface the '96 Altima CAL ECU main board to a daughterboard, I have no doubt Calum could do it as well. Perhaps something with a clock/timing is throwing him off. Or, maybe it is just too much work involved in getting it to work. Keep throwing it at his face, because he takes on some serious challenges when confronted - just like the Edison/Einstein types. Send him the ECU to play with if he doesn't have one. At least it'll make it into his lab.
Don't worry about thread jacking. You're one of those greatly contributing to all this stuff and any comment is truly welcome. I am sure a lot of others feels the same way. Thanks for the post.
actually, he said its the same as a 96 240sx ECU. and he already has a core of that one. its not as far off as when he first told me it simply wouldnt work, then he said this:

so i think he'll get it eventually. i plan on installing both the 96 CAL and 95 FED from my parts car (plus the jumpers that I need to add) into my 97 at different times next month. at that point i'll send one out to him for a realtime board (with an NA tune).
if the 96 CAL ends up being an option, great. but if not its really no big deal. in my hunt for one i found that they make up probably only about 15% of those available from 96 cars. so even if they work, i have a feeling that many 97+ will have to go with a 95 ECU (or 96 FED) and just make the wire swaps...
