Question P0505

Hello everyone,
I have a question regarding code P0505. Through my searches here on this site I have found that P0505 means IAC-AAC Valve. Now I have had this problem for a year now and I am looking to solve it. I have had the IAC changed and the light reset then 3 months later the light came back on. Then I had the RPM's adjusted by the computer and the light shut off. For the last year everytime the light turned on I noticed that there was a fluctuation on the rpm's and all I did was have the computer adjust the idle back to normal. (750 rpm's) Now the light turned back on a few weeks ago and I drove it with it on. Nothing happend and then esterday all of a sudden the light shut off all by itself and the rpm's don't fluctuate. My question is "Should I replace the IAC once again ( keep in mind it is less then a year old ) or do I have some other problem?"
The reason I think that it is something else is because the IAC was new adn after the IAC I changed the following to get my car to start one day;
IAC (no start)
Distributor (no start)
Distributor Cap (no start)
Spark Plugs and BAM the car started. and the saga continues.
Can anyone please help me with my problem. Could there be a possibility other then a faulty IAC maybe the computer is bad?
Thank you in advance for any help that I may receive.

Are you sure the second light that came on again was the IAC? I changed mine about 6 months ago and i've had no problems.

How did you come up with P0505? 5 short flashes followed by 5 short flashes?

My buddy works for the local Nissan Dealer and he has a computer at home and that is what it keeps saying. This computer is also how I adjust the idle back to the factory setting 750 rpm's. The light just this last time was P0505. I have the print outs saved. (This is how I know P0505)

The IAC is new but I have a feeling that it could be faulty, but I don't know and I don't want to spend the money on a new one because here in MA once you buy and put it on the car you can't return it. So if it is not the IAC I am out the cash. What do you think it could be? Maybe I have a faulty sensor somewhere next to the IAC??? Right now it is day three that the check engine light is off and no jumps on the rpm's. (And yes I did check the check engine bulb it is not blown out) Any ideas or should I call the ghostbusters? or replace the IAC?

I've had my IAC/AAV code on for awhile, almost 3 years, and I haven't had any problems with the car's performance until recently. My MPT is about 30-40 miles lower than usual. I don't know if this is related or not though.

I'm looking at my Haynes manual for '93-'97 Alitmas. 0205 is the code for IACV/AACV. 0505 means no diagnostic code present. MPT is miles per tank.

I searched this site for P0505 and everyone complianed that Haynes said that same thing but when they checked with Nissan P0505 was the IAC-AAC Valve. Also another point brought up was why would the light come on if there is nothing wrong with the car? What is AAC?

That's funny. One time I called a local Nissan dealership asking about 0205 and they had no idea what I was talking about. AACV is auxilary air control valve.

so you agree with me that Haynes is wrong stating that 0205 is IAC. The 0205 code really doesn't exist and 0505 is the IAC code right? Or did you mean that you called a dealer and 205 was the right code and 505 didn't exist?
