2000 Altima and synthetic oil

Hi

Has anyone experienced seals leaks due to using synthetic oil in their 2000 Altima?

Thanks
Mike

I've been using Mobil1 10w-30 since the car had about 25k on it, and it's great. No leaks experienced whatsoever.

This has been discussed about 300 million times - synthetic does not cause leaks, it's actually good for seals and such, but any worn seals that you may have had before you put the synthetic in are just more likely to show with the synthetic.

i switched to synthetic last oil change and drove across country and back 2 weeks later and I don't have a leak.

yeah, what happens if your car has had dino in it for a long time (like 10 yrs) and you switch to synth? i know the dino dries up the seals and can cause cracks, but the sludge covers them up and keeps it from leaking. upon the switch to synth, it cleans out the pipes and might expose the cracks and dried out seals (which it should re-moisten the seals after a while i think).

but what if the seals start leaking after having all the grime cleaned out? would they need to be replaced? and would that cost very much or be hard to do?

What about tranny oil? What viscosity and type is needed for the 2001 manual? I've run synthetic in every vehicle I've had(all nissans, 90 maxima, 94 sentra se-r, 2000 frontier) in diff, trans and engine. No problems, in fact it probably saved my engine in a lot of cases. Sold all at high mileage without a problem.
