Exclamation Jwt Cams Upgrade?

Hey guys! I own a '99 Nissan Altima and I have been trying to find info on the JWT CAMS. I see on their webpage that they claim to help mid range and high range. Their Skunk countertypes for Hondas claim to add around 16-20 horsepower, along with the torque mentioned above. HAs anyone upgraded and installed the Jim Wolf Cams into their 98-01 Altima? If so, did you like it, and was it worth the $560 for them? Thanks!

unless you run a standalone you wont really see the potential of this part. there are acouple of people running these cams on this site i believe. i think shawn was one of them ?. search around.

I had the TopEnd regrinds ... basicly the same ... Made good power .... They will make power mid and high , but like Oleh said ... They really need a 7000 RPM rev limit , to get the full potential ....and since there is no OBD2 legal ECU upgrade for your '99 ..you really dont have very many options .....If you dont have DEQ you could run an early Altima ECU with the JWT program ....That will give you the right tune for the cams and give the 7000 RPM Limiter ....

You can also look into cams out of a 2000 or 2001. They are slightly different, nothing big, but a little better. Just an option.

Question

Bob, do you mean the stock cams from an 00-01? If so, do you think the performance would be worth it? WOuld installing the JWT cams for my '99 without a upgraded ECU be worth it? Does the rpm need to go up to 7,000 to notice/be worth the cost, or is it only a plus? Also, How would I go about getting the ecu upgraded? The only JWT ecu's run up to the 95 Altima I believe. Any suggestions?

^ save up and buy a AEM AMS. although its expensive. you gain around 35~whp on a stock engine and you could do whatever you want, cams, turbo, nitrous....

Does KMC1 have them installed? Mine is an auto too, and I would love to hear what he thinks of the JWT cams (if he has them).

I have run the JWT cams without the ECU upgrade for about 6 months. It wakens up the top end, doesn't feel so flat after 4500 rpm. My largest gain is on the bottle, it pulls very hard after 4k. With the SAFC I can see airflow based on perentage, before cams about 47% and after 50-51% average. I hope to be on a dyno sometime in May. Before the cams and msd the car put down 144whp off the bottle. Peak hp was at 4700rpm.

I have the cams. Sorry to say they arn't installed yet though. I have been waiting for some spare time to get them in but it just hasn't come up yet. Im not going to run the JWT upgrade ecu or anything, got the cams cause I have heard they are go along great with the nitrous.

Question

Hey superalty, when you got the 144 whp, you said that was off the bottle. Was the car stock or what mods did you have on it. Also, Kcmi, where did you get the cams? From JWt directly, or somewhere else? Does anyone have some new or used that they would be willing to sell?

I got them from a previous alty owner whos alty was going to the junkyard due to some other problems. He sold me the cams for $190 and since he lived near me, I picked them up.
