Engine stalling problem

This is my first post here and I am hoping someone can help me with me 1998 Altima SE woes.
Every 6 months or so while I am driving my engine will start to emit a lot of whitish smoke out the tailpipe before stalling. It has happened in the summer and last Friday when it was cold. If I leave it for about an hour it will run fine for another 6 months or so. I have taken it to Nissan and another mechanic on different occasions. When the car gets there by tow truck it runs fine without any fault codes found. This Friday I just left it on the side of the road and drove it away later in the day.
Any help would be great. Thanks!

bhoneydew,
Are you loosing any coolant ??? When I saw your post about white smoke
I was wondering if your headgasket is going, burning coolant, coolant mixing
with oil etc. What did Nissan and the other Mechanics think ??

Minimal if any coolant loss. It's hard to tell because I haven't watched it. I'm goin to fill it up today and see. Stopped by the mechanic today, he said head gaskets don't leak intermittently. The Nissan mechanic didn't mention anything about the head gasket at the time.
