Rough idle when in drive only - SES light on

I have a 2000 Altima Automatic with 80k miles that is idling rough only in drive. The SES light is on.

I tried getting the error codes from the ECU, but I can't see that damn screw. Its like I have to put my head under the brake pedal to see it.

A friend suggested that its a vacuum leak. I did some one vacuum related things today. Changed spark plugs, check the cap and rotor, both excellent. Ran it without the air filter, no change.

Any suggestions?

Have someone like AutoZone read the codes for free. If you get a P0303 or P0304, or related code, then get ready to open your pockets for replacing an intake manifold gasket.

One code came back as P0325 knock sensor 1 circuit malfunction

The other was P0304 cylinder 4 misfire detected.

bingo! just like jserrano said, intake manifold gasket leak.

the knock sensor code is not a huge deal - but you might as well have it replaced while the intake manifold gasket is getting replaced. the whole jobs gonna gonna cost ya though...
