Removing A/C

Hey guys.
I can't stand A/C..mostly the smell, And my system needs to be recharged and converted to the new format. Im interested in just getting rid of it.

Is there a writeup for this anywhere? I searched and couldnt find anything.

I was just looking at what I can take out, and from what I can see the... Dryer, Lines, Radiator can be taken out..but im sure they will be pressurized..can anyone let me know the proper procedure to take them out?

also, what about the a/c fittings on the firewall? what could be done about those? is there a Pulley i can buy? will my belt length be the same?

thanks guys any help is awesome

edit: just also wondering what kind of weight savings would come with this

I would leave the ac in the car and just run a short belt. that way if you ever sell the car or trade it in the people will be able to atleast see that there is a ac unit in it. selling a car with no ac is a hard task..

...that is true. Just take a strong scissor and cut the AC belt off. Alternatively, you could just pull the AC relay out.

thanks for the info guys, i didnt even notice it was a totally different belt. the rad/dryer/lines/compressor/bracket/belt is out now..not really concerned about resale..this car has 235,000km on it (146875 miles) so i dont think anyone would be too interested.

if anyone is interested in the compressor, let me know..ill let it go super cheap.

im gonna go see how much weight i shaved by taking all this stuff out..brbbb!

>>33 pounds for the A/C. and another 30 pounds for my stock header and EGR components, putting an obx on. so in total i probably took out about 50 pounds or so. good stuff.
