service engine soon light/ecu location

alright so i got the dreaded light. most cars ive had you can disconnect the battery for 2 minutes and the light will go away and then come back again if the problem is still there.

i disconnected the battery turned the car back on and the light was back on instantly. its possible that it notices the problem again instantly.

does anyone know if our computer stores codes and keeps the light on even if you disconnect the battery?

I dont wana go to the dealer if i dont have to.

also where is the ecu located on our car?

Anthony

I would tell you where the ecu is, but theres nothing you can do, aside from beating it up. There is a way to reset it using the gas pedal, but i would recomend you read it first to see what the code is, then reset it. Search for it on the boards, you will find alot about it.

Did you replace your MAF? If so ......... leave it alone. It'll go off by itself. Mine took about a week and a half. As long as it drives normal, you should be ok. Have Autozone have a look at the codes. It's supposed to be free. Free is good!!!! Good luck!
