I do not have the run files. Should I?

edit: The only thing I got were the printouts. They do not do A/F on a power run. They do do that when they Dyno tune.

Also, you have mail.

i don't think so. that doesn't lose any performance. problably sound will change, not the performance.

Haha, no. You *need* backpressure thus non-mandrel bent pipes when you get headers to reduce the rasp and increase overall backpressure.

torque at lower rpms benefit from backpressure, but at WOT 5000RPM++ the crushed section is hampering peak HP output.

I know you need backpressure to help empty the cylinder after detonation, but even the best designed exhausts have backpressure, I was just afraid that the exhaust is too restrictive.

You sure its not the OEM headers? The difference in the diameter is minimal between the crushed bend and the straight sections, no where near the "crimp." If that is the case then I wased $200 bucks in labor and piping that could have gone towards mandrel bent pipes, or even worse wasted $400 that could have gone to a greedy or stomung (mossy).

edit: Maybe we should continue this discussion HERE (thread about my exhaust) so as to not clutter up this thread. I am sure that people waiting for updates on the IM don't to read about my exhaust.

A bit disappointing. I posted this in the "Official Dyno Thread" at the top of this forum. The car has 4K mi. Also, I noticed that the 14829s are smaller diameter that 2.25 - 2 in maybe?

edit: this is the pre-headers dyno, I'll post the pre-manifold dyno as soon as HS is done with the car. Here are the charts that are posted in the dyno thread:

05 SE 5AT, AEM CAI, Custom Exhaust (magnaflow 27" resonator, 2 14829s, 2.5->2 2.25 piping aluminized w/ crushed bends), 91 octane

Its not too bad, but could be better.

What was the ambient temp in the room, and how much humidity? Did they use fans in front of your car?

It was a big open wherehouse with huge garage doors at both ends. Both doors were open, it was 9ish in the morning in Huntington beach, there was morning fog. They did use fans. None of that information was in the readout I got, which is what you see.

I am under the impression that the charts given to me corrected for ambient temperature and humidity. Am I mistaken?

Not sure they would actually be corrected for temp and humidity .

You say fog, was it 65, or 80 degrees out?

Dave at active tuning did dyno runs on a 3.5 Altima one at 60 degrees another at 80. Ambiant temp can make a differrence on the dyno.

I live in NH, and notice it bigtime driving in 35-55 degree weather versus 85. The car pulls, and pins you back in the seat in second to redline. Wheels spin excessively through third gear on 40 degree days.

I had my 2004 3.5L 5spd dyno'd last year in March in 35 degree weather with just a Place Racing CAI added. It showed 236whp and 242wtq.

So cold air really makes a big differrence. I've heard of guys taking bags of ice and placing it under the hood on the intake manifold between runs to cool the air into the engine for the next run.

Also, coolant temp will make a big differrence too. Stillen did a dyno test on this with a 350Z, and showed that a 5 degree rise in temp reduced the wheel HP by four.

So I was just curious how cold the air was when the dyno was done. The humidity was high due to the fog.

Somethings to keep in mind when getting a dyno

After the Kinetics SSV is installed, why not check the forcast for a cold 60 degree day for the dyno. Get the Dyno done at night when its colder.

But please don't use the bags of ice, as that will slant the results.

Cheers, Man.

Lol. It was in the morning so it was not 80. according to the weather channel it was ~65-70 degrees F and about 70-75% humidity from 9-10 am in huntington beach. They only do dyno runs at 9:30 am. But remember this is my before-before, not the before,

Good thanx, and yours?

Dropped off my car at HS yesterday. As soon as I get it back in 2 or 3 days I will dyno it the next morning. I have not heard from Kinetix but as soon as they call or email I will be good to go. I'll drop them an email today.

In NH fireworks are LEGAL. So we had a nice backyard show on Sunday, then went for the real show by the lake on the 4th.

Lots of fun and still have all four fingers , Thx.
