Well from removing the variable technology we're using now - it's restricting our airflow which is a main reason the Z/G's put more power to the wheels but our economy will definately take a hit. I hope everyone is prepared for that.....
Also if you do go into the group buy for this manifold you NEED to get air / fuel tuning done along side it (S-AFCII, SMT6, eManage, etc).
I would be interested in the group buy also if the gains are at a good ratio to the price. BUT... if the butterflys are eliminated, then I would have to think alot harder on this mod.
Why is that? The 350z/G manifold is an engineering marvel ... IMO. The stock FWD VQ35DE IM is made to be very torquey ..
And there is only 1 butterfly valve in FWD VQ35's, unlike the 3.0L DEK series of the VQ. ... ...

On the Maxima, it's resonance tuned, not an actual dual runner system .. open the IM where the butterfly valve is located, and see for yourself.

This brings up an interesting point.
What are the gains w/o a/f tuning? As most people will go in this w/o A/F tuining and come out w/ A/F tuning + IM, and say the gains were all IM .. when they could've just been the result of A/F tuning.
I must have a plate in my head someplace for actually being a sucker enough to continue to follow this lame thread!!!!
By late '07, they'll still be in the r&d phase of the development!!!!!!!!!!!
i get lost everyday with this product, what else do you exactly need or have to get done for this manifold to work properly? will an after market cai still work with this setup? or will it be replaced? what kind of chipping or tuning needs to be done? someone please explain.

The intake you use doesn't matter, as long as it bolts up to the stock manifold it will bolt right up to the Kinetix.
Assuming you're not mildly retarded and you've done the basic bolt ons before the installation of the intake manifold (Intake, Headers, Exhaust) I highly suggest you get some sort of tool to tune the air / fuel ratio of your car. The economy and AF ratio will be so out of whack with all of that extra air the car won't know what to do with it so it'll just dump an excessive amount of fuel on the stock ECU settings (It's pretty dumb for aftermarket mods). The most common tool to use is the Apexi S-AFCII which is $250 shipped off eBay and approx. $100-$150 to get tuned by the local speedshop.

doug, I have received all necessary parts and am in the process of
fabrication. I will keep you updated with as much lead time as
possible,
but initial fitting probably wont happen this week.
told ya. and won't be ready next week either. hopefully but not likely. I'm amazed that they don't have the car right now if they have the parts already.

Well, Rome wasn't built in a day either.
Who cares if it takes another two weeks, as long as it works!
is the way they are doing things. I don't understand why they are not requiring the car on their warehouse to finish the design
Because they have already have a design. The test fitting is for the 1st generation IM. So after I get it installed I go straight to the dyno. If the gains are significant then that will be the finished product minus polishing. Have some patience.
