Man... that thing looks awesome. I'd like to see what kind of a difference that has made at the wheels... Definitely not a project for the faint-hearted!

Can someone fill me in on what that butterfly thing does? would removin it have any negative affect on the engine i.e. engine damage or anything?

I may be some sort of a dumby, but how does the engine run with the butterfly removed from the power valve. The butterfly is what meters and measures the fuel/air mixture, doesn't it? I'll take it out if it works; I just don't see how it could. Help!

^^^hey bro, about your evap and codes. I keeped my whole vacumm and power valve set up, all i did was remove the metal flap inside the manifold, and i do feel a difference. Try putting yours back on and removing that flap and see what happens, it should get rid of the codes for ya.
Your car is no faster with the butterfly removed. It feels faster because your mid-range has gone to crap with no gain in top-end power.
And that's with JUST the powervalve removal. As you've noticed, low-end torque suffers and you lose a little bit of low-end too. But you lose the typical VQ VIAS dip at around 3k and it's nothing but gains until then. I've been considering doing this modification (just removing the valve) but haven't had the time.
If anyone is interested.. I can put some cash down for maybe someone to make me a plate to cover up the valve. PM me!

Not need for a plate cover. Just use the stock one and just remove the butterfly bro. You won't regret it and it takes all but about 5 mins to do this mod...

I removed that valve today... it wasnt easy getting the three 12mm bolts out because the harness is in the way but it helps to take out the two hex screws first. I capped off the vaccuum line and made a block off plate out of lexan with honda bond for a gasket. Worked like a charm and I think i feel a little bit of an increase.
Also made that Home depot catch can, it cost me $13
ok ok , im not sure why u guys are installing these catch cans. What does this do? from what I've read, its to remove oil going thru the intake correct?
How many places can u install these cans?
Also, does anyone know the reason why that golden flap is even there on the upper plenum? The purpose of it is to.......
