Solution To Broken Nismo/Aem Bypass Valves

Well for about a month already I have been running without the bypass vavle from my nismo intake due to the fact that it snaped in half. I know maybe people might have the same problem not only on our nismo intakes but I also read on many forums about people having this problem. I came up with a simple fix for the bypass valves. Below I will include instructions and pictures of my finshed reinforced bypass valve.

1. Simply put krazy glue or stronger around the edge of the bypass valve to glue it back together, make sure you put clamps, clips or even cloths pin to hold it together while it is drying.

2. After it has finshed drying drill small holes around the edge of the bypass valve (the black edge). Make sure you use a small drill so you do not end up breaking the whole thing.

3. Use strong steel or whatever wire and pass it threw the holes you have just drilled and twist it together with pliers until you can't twist no more showing the wires are holding it together nice and tight. Do not over twist the wires if you do you can end up breaking the wire or even breaking your bypass valve.

4. After you are all done gently put back on the gray foam on your valve.

Sorry I know the pictures are not the best and my instructions might be vague or even just bad, but I figure you guys will figure it out. The pictures below are with out the gray foam.

or driving carefully.... where do you drive that you need to avoid a small lake about one foot deep... Ive had my CAI for over 3 years and have yet to even worry about sucking in water and we get tons of rain here

his probably broke in half because he doesn't have it tighted down with the lower bolt on the intake pipe. so when the engine moves it's going to break at the weakest point. I would just buy another one and get a sheet metal screw and bolt the whole intake the right way. Trust me I learned..just my guess

you might be right, I glad Nissan put mine on. The water bypass is really good, I went thru some deep water today when it was raining cats, and dogs out there. It held up great. I would reccomend the bypass to anyone.

I have all my clamps tight and the lower bolt on the intake tight also, you guys have to understand the nismo intake comes in how many pieces? Your intake will flex no matter what when the engine moves, what you guys should know is that the bypass valve is only helded together by glue and Aem did make a recall on most the bypass valves.
