Still a mystery. I've heard of a sentra with a 3.5 swap putting down 286 with stock internals. There's a 350z with a stock block and nismo cams putting down 320whp. Then again with money the sky is the limit. You could spend $60,000 on a rocketeering race motor and have 650hp n/a or a cosworth motor with 450hp.

This looks amazing, but is it really worth 1100?? thats kinda too pricey IMO, TUKO with those mods you have next you will definitely see a huge gain im sure

Peak power isn't impressive because its not compared to a completely stock manifold. The VIAS blockoff plate is good for~10whp. The point of the teo graphs was to show the area under the curve. The ~30whp gain at redline justifies the money IMO. The only restriction (I believe) now is the intake piping. This manifold would work great with cams. in the end it is your decision.

I really don't think that the power/$ is all that bad, for the Altima anyway. Certainly better than cams when you consider the cost of the installs.

I honestly can't believe people are drewing over this so much? For starters the comparison is "biased" in away because Tukos car is already moderately modified to make better use of the manifold. Everybody has different mods, some have headers, some don't. Some have CAI, y-pipes, tunes/flashes some don't. And there's seemingly 1000 different COMBINATIONS of the mods that are out there for our cars. Every body will get a different result based on how much they've free'd up the rest of their system. (exhaust flow, tune/fuel delivery, intake of air etc)
One car with headers may get a 20WHP gain at 4000RPM while a car with OEM manifolds may get 10? 5? I'm willing to bet that if you bolted this manifold to a COMPLETELY stock engine you might even see losses in power at certain points in the RPM band. I just hope everyone bears in mind that this isn't a miracle piece. If you haven't already invested a decent amount of money in basic mods for the VQ chances are you'll see little gain for your $1100.
I wish the few people out there with fabbing skills and a love for the VQ would invest more of their time in a reasonably priced FI system than charging up the butt for bolt ons.
I'm sure most have seen this thread:
http://www.nissanclub.com/forums/eng...-complete.html

If someone fab'd up the parts, $1100 could easily by you the nose cone, pulley, SC bracket(s) AND a rebuilt/used supercharger. That would put you about 75% of the way to FI without having to d*ck around 5HP at a time.

Now, everyone can proceed to rape me in the butt hole

We would be interested in doing a group buy if there were enough people on board. We know the price is quite high but people have to understand that this intake manifold is made by hand here in America using the highest qaulity materials available. It is not some cheap Chinese Ebay special. LOL! As far as performance goes............Tukos cars is not that extensively modified. I mean headers, exhaust and CAI is what most guys do to their cars anyways. So the gains he has seen should be typical of the average car with the same mods. And another thing to think about is that the peak horsepower and torque increase is not all that high but the peak horsepower and torque in the upper rpms is huge! So it has a much better powerband.

I 100% appreciate American made and I 100% appreciate a person who makes parts for the VQ. As with almost all bolt on mods, the most power made is in the upper RPM band and for those people who think they’re going to play in the 4000-7000RPM for extended periods of time, they’ll be very sorry after 10-15K of motor abuse. Our cars suck oil as is. With the exception of street/track races and occasional romp-on-it-after-work runs, 95% of driving needs to be within a reasonable RPM range (under 3K) in order to expect longevity out of a motor. Like I said and you re-iterated, for those who already have CAI, headers, tune etc (which isn’t most people) yes they will see gains. For those who have none or just a few mods, they won’t see much. Not $1100 worth of gains anyway.

I think most in this thread realize all that. But at this point, for those who have all the bolt-ons available, this opens up a whole lot of power that wasn't available before.

But this is about those who want to stay NA. For those who have the install skills, they might be able to install an SC kit, but the rest of us will be paying someone else. Of course, I would have to pay for someone to install this intake but I don't see it costing as much as a SC.

Personally, I'll be waiting for the Chinese Ebay special.

And if we get enough people interested we might be able to do these intake manifolds for $949.99 unpolished ofcourse! the polishing will add about $199.

Would you make a matching unpolished engine cover? What about any extra fittings and such? I'm assuming that any instructions would include a list of any additional needed items.

interesting info here.. nice gains on the dyno, but it sure isnt cheap at $1100.. and like others im curious to how the numbers would look on a untuned more stock engine.

You mention longevity but then mention going turbo........ doesn't make sense to me.

Weren't you supposed to go turbo a looong time ago? I knew you were full of shit. Why bash a product with proven gains? Nothing is going to add power like a turbo.
