Then add some juice and start chasing down some VQs Sadly the only thing I will be chasing down is a prius It is refreshing to see 2.5 owner serious into performance mods though.
Yeah man. Nad really has me inspired to put some serious work into this car. I'm tired of people down grading the QR There is some serious potential in these cars. We just have to work hard on it and put some work into it. Right now I love eating Hondas but I sure would love to take on that "mighty" VQ

Oh and 350 all together IS a STEAL.

The 4AT is better IMO for putting down the power more efficiently. Shift kit + 3800 stall converter + drag radials + nitrous = one scary ass launch. I'm betting with a two stage system spraying a 30 shot from the launch a 2.5S 4AT would be able to smack off a 1.8-1.9 60' and that alone would be able to put in the 13s, even with a 94-95MPH trap. ****, makes me want to get a 2.5S 4AT now. Lol!

Hoping for installed pics later and initial butt dyno results.

Alright guys, INSTALL FAIL.

My car won't idle. It'll start, sound like piss, and if you keep gas on it, it'll stay running. Got a SES/CEL code P0300 today after running it for a bit (random cylinder misfire). Tried idle air relearn since your car just needs to be warmed up for it.. No help. I tried adjusting fuel correction, no help. I think it may be an intake manifold gasket leak. Car sounds crazy, almost like I snuck in some race cams. I'm going to buy all new gaskets from nissan and reinstall everything, hopefully that'll be a good fix. Maybe some RTV sealant as well? Still have a lot of RTV black left over from my BSR kit install.

NINJA EDIT: Thanks 3rdgen for helpin through text!

- This guy had the same code and it was an intake manifold gasket leak.

- WHORE-JAY where ya at!! You had an intake leak too (at the block off plate) causing the same code, but your car actually sounded normal. Maybe mines a bigger leak? Hah.

- Here's a quick vid I took of my car while it was running:

What was the problem? I'm guessing air leak. Fixed?

Did ya listen to the vid? Haven't fixed it yet since Nissan was closed by the time I was done ****ing around with it. Hopefully my local Nissan is open tommorrow, and hopefully they have the intake manifold gaskets in stock, if not I'll order em. Think replacing them will be good? A lil RTV as well? Double gasket??

More than likely an air leak causing a lean mixture from the un-metered air which is causing the misfire. I wouldn't double up on the gaskets but I would get ALL new ones from Nissan and I wouldn't use the ones from outlaw engineering. One because you already installed them once and two because one of them might be faulty somehow. So I would just go buy a double set so you have one new gasket on each side of the spacers, but I wouldn't use two gaskets on each side of the spacers.

Thanks man. One new gasket on each side of each spacer. Think I should do the throttle body one too? 6 gaskets total. I think I'm going to since I'm gunna have to take it off again anyway.

It is 100% a gasket leak.
Start over from the lower intake manifold and work your way up.

^^Agreed^^
You only need a little RTV to work.
Spread it evenly and it should help.
Mine had the same problem a while ago.
Looks nice with the black intake.
Guy did a good job with the port and polish. If you talk again ask what a VQ Manifold would cost?

Thanks for the input! You could always ask man. 2 more runners... My guess would be ~$300 for porting, ~$110 for ceramic coating, then agian, just my guess. Shoot em a e-mail. Tell em I sent ya!

I didn't see if you did this so I'll throw it out there: Did you put Permatex on the spacer? The Outlaw spacer is Phenolic (Garolite G7) and is very rigid and will not make a good seal without some form of gasket. Some of their kits include gaskets but they also say Permatex is an option. So if you have the gaskets pull em and use Permatex. If you got just the spacer in there you need to goop em up to seal it.

My spacers (custom made) are Phenoic Garolite G11 and I used Permatex with great success.

If you did all this then disregard anything I said.

Hope it all works out quickly and cheaply.

Yeah might as well toss a new gasket on each side of the throttle body spacer. Although I have reused gaskets and even made my own before for the throttle body I wouldn't chance it. 6 new gaskets and a little RTV and you should be golden.
