A little background: After having a Marshall "rebuilt" engine installed in my wife's 2005 2.5SL after a shop did not tighten the oil drain plug, the engine has started to eat itself. I had earlier problems with the head and ended up pulling it and basically rebuilding it on my shop bench. I reinstalled it and the motor started right up and sounded great...for about 6 weeks. Now it is in its final death throes. It appears the main bearing are toast. Marshall, despite claiming a 100,000 mile warranty, will not replace the motor. Only after buying the motor did I find out they have a D- rating with the Better Business Bureau. DO NOT PURCHASE ENGINES FROM MARSHALL ENGINES!!!
I'm now going to pull the engine and replace it with an engine purchased from Nissan. My question is can the engine be removed from the top or do I have to raise the car and drop the engine/transaxle assembly from the bottom as described in the shop manual?
It will come out from above, it's just a little tedious, so be careful and make sure you find the right balance point when pulling it. Following the link posted will help lots.
