Test pipes and High-Flow cats for the 4th gen

It looks like we'll have a choice of either
test pipes, highflow cats or resonated test pipes for the 4th GEN 3.5SE's

As you know test pipes/ hfc's free up alot of power that the stock cats rob. For those who are worried about inspection HFC's would be best. whp gain would be anywhere on average of 7-12whp.

They want $200 for just test pipes (LOUD)
$250 for resonated test pipes (less loud)
$500 for HFC's makes an aggressive sound over stock.

The thread is already on Nicoclub and I've already posted my interested and how soon I'd be able to purchase one.

I'm at work and Nico is blocked so I can't supply the link right this moment but as soon as I get home I will update this thread. It is on the Altima> Engine & Drivetrain discussion forum there.

Last I checked these weren't going into production. It was mostly just an interest thread.

EDIT# oops didn't realize there was another thread

$500 for a high flow cat?!?!? That's ludicrious...

You can buy a Magnaflow high flow cat for around $65 and have it welded in by a muffler shop for around $50 ( 94106 Magnaflow HIGH FLOW Catalytic Converter 2.5":eBay Motors (item 280349873534 end time May-27-09 15:46:23 PDT) )

I think thats 500 for the test pipe with HFC. Just like the resonator is added to the test pipe. So its 300 more for the HFC included in the test pipe.

They most likely replace the rear cat...It's basically a Y-pipe without the Y or the bend under the crossmember...

Personally, if you want the test pipe, just wait for the Y-pipe to come out since it's basically a test pipe with the Y

Nah man you need to read the info on the nicoclub forum, they replace the precats on both sides of the engine,

This exhaust component will replace your pre-cats on each side. It is right after the headers and before the y-pipe. It is a direct bolt-on and will work with your stock or aftermarket exhaust. Installation can be a DIY if you have experience and tools.

That is right from the thread starter, the guy involoved with Fast Intenstions I guess, this might be a really cool thing, its the next best thing from Headers, you put these on Test Pipes or HFC version, install the RacingLine y-pipe if it ever comes out, and then a cat-back exhaust, were looking at some good gains.

So this would be replacing parts #6 and #11 in this picture?

How about posting up that nico thread because I don't see it over there in either the 4th gen or Coupe forums...

Everytime I type in Nisoclub I can't find it. Shut up already white3spd. BTW be cautious about these "HIGH flow cats". What do you think is on there now a "low flow"? Because of the heat, the catalytic converters may actually increase exhaust flow and reduce back pressure. Just replacing quality parts with aftermarket junk is silly. Magnaflow sucks BTW. A $65 converter- thats funny, I bet it won't last a year.
Another thing- when the cheap parts do go bad in a year you'll see what REAL back pressure is. Sometimes enough pressure to burn valves.

dude stfu...

these are tested and proven in the 350z/g35 already. It's the same quality product. Those have been dyno tested and proven to pruduce gains. Go read some..
