Firewall grommet install pics.. (1st gen auto)

We haven't had the 'where do i drill' question for a while, but i just did mine and figured I'd make a thread.. Mine used to go down through the wheel well, but I'm gonna be upgrading to 0 ga, and decided to go through the firewall instead..

First you have to remove both the plastic and metal panels under the steering column (two philips, six 10mm/philips screws).. Then there's a couple boxes I needed to get out of the way to get my drill in position, the front one of the two metal boxes right of the fuse box (two philips), and the one that sits in front of the clutch hole area (one 12mm).. There will be a rubber/foam peice covering the spot we're gonna drill, it's scored, just rip it out..

Then just get out the drill, line up and drill a pilot hole.. Then look at it's location from the engine side, and move if need be.. Then just drill out the hole to whatever size you need..

on to the pics.....

here is the location as seen from under the dash..
