here is a little write up for debadging an altima, or any car for that matter. i just did it and it came out fantastic...
here is a picture of the rear of the car prior to the debadging ( i have since removed the "haberstad" dealer sticker
below are of tools and supplies you will need to get the project going
hair drier (heat gun if you got one)
floss (fishing line if you have)
paper towel
thick rag
wax/cleaner
you want to have the hair drier approximately
3-4 inches away from the logos. i held it about an inch away due to the temperature and a mild wind. hold the hair drier over the badge for about
3.5 minutes as it is its peak time for the adhesive to come off easily from the trunk. you must make sure that you are moving in a
back and forth motion over the badge to ensure that you are heating the entire piece.
after heating the piece for the 3-4 minutes, move it around and judge how loose it is. if you feel it is ready to be pried off you can go ahead and do that. if it is still too attached, heat it again in
30-45 second increments checking it after each 30-45 second interval
when you want to take it off, take a piece of floss about 4 feet long, wrap it around your fingers to get a grip and slide it under the badge.
move back and forth and apply pressure when sliding it under the piece as it will be faster and make it easier to remove.
for the purpose of troubleshooting etc., i took a picture with the logo taken off before it was ready to leaving the adhesive on the car. when that happens, simply use your finger and rub the adhesive to remove the majority of the residue. you can hold the hair drier on the spot too to loosen up the adhesive and make it easier to remove.
when you have repeated these steps to all the pieces and have the car's badging removed, you will see that there is a lot of gluey residue remaining where the pieces came off. what i used (personal preference) was a bottle of
goof off heavy duty cleaner/adhesive remover.
DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT PUT IT DIRECTLY ON THE CAR as it will destroy the paint. put a few drops of the fluid on a damp rag. let it soak in and vigorously rub the areas with glue on it. it will all go away with about 2 minutes of circular motions.
lastly, i took some zymol wax and buffed the area to give it back its shine prior to the procedure...
here are a couple shots of after the mod...
thanks for taking looking and i hope this can help you with your own cars
