If you want to hook it up to the foglights, it can be done easily, even easier than my mod, since all you have to do is T-tap the + (black wire) to the foglight + (you will have to find out by using voltmeter which one is +), then just ground the black wire w/ white stripe, then TADA! these will light up whenever you turn on the fogs.
sorry im a total newbie when it comes to wireing...what do you mean by T-tap???

The reason why I chose a switch is because of stupid a$$ cops here in cali, if i happen to spot a cop b4 he/she sees me, I will turn these off for sure. I will take some daytime photos and post them.
Same reason I threw them on my fog switch. But I was checking the legallities of having these for CA. So far, nothing. They aren't strobing, blue, red, etc...and positioned below the hood line. I've checked the DMV and some other car sites but I haven't found anything about them.
i kept clicking into "underglow" sites and the onlyting ii can think of is light output. There is a light output limit for external lighting on cars, but I am pretty sure these fall under that limit.
As far as I can tell, they should be okay, but it is still a non-factory modification. Anyone have any insight on this?
Hi there, T-taps are plastic clips where you can connect two wires simply by clipping them side by side. For images, just type "T-taps" in google.
The lengths of the wires depend on their location, always leave room for mistakes, because you can always cut them out later. What I did was I made a "mock" wiring by laying all the wires on top of the engine and see approximately how long i need to cut them; if they end up being too long, you can always just tie them up w/ a twisty tie and tuck them away.
First off, great mod and you did a clean job as well.
I live in SoCal and read pretty much all of the penal code for the automotive section regarding lights and I don't see any reasons why the cops might pull you over.
I read it because I planned to put similar orange LED strips along the side skirt. It might be too flashy though. What do you guys think?
what r the legality issues on this mod???...is it legal or illegal??? and how long are the led strips???
im installing mine this weekend. i wouldnt think it would be illegal, but just to be sure i got the switch to turn them off if i see a cop make a sharp u-turn behind me the strips are 12" but ive seen others with varied sizes
i figure cali is strict about everything, from lights to emissions and all tht stuff...but is it all the same throughout the US??...or is it set by state laws???
That's true... keep it white, don't animate them in any way (sorry guys, can't make it look like KITT), and not excessively bright, either. You shouldn't run into any problems as this is something that is a feature on new, upscale cars.
