It is interesting that once you have no fear, and you are willing to dive into wiring, how simple it becomes to choose tunning options. Not tunning of course, that takes a lot of time but tunning options.

I would love to be able to get this up and running soon but its just not going to happen for me. My goal is to get this all completed before this summer is over since my time is also quite limited. Right now I need to purchase a home for the family. And if God permits that will happen sometime soon.

But just to give everyone an idea, this is really all that I can think of which needs to be completed for the turbo side of things.

1. Hot side of the intercooler piping.
2. 3" catback and muffler.
3. Intake manifold vacuum distribution block.
4. Cabin gauges with the sender.
5. Turbo inlet filter.
6. Wideband O2 install.
7. Underhood fuel pressure gauge.
8. Manual boost controller.
9. Turbo Coolant lines.

But even with those completed I still need to do some spot checks and complete some other sections, like the EGR tubing, windshield replacement, etc. It will not go on the road until I have resolved all the issues with the engine starting up and running fine during idle.

So I still have a long way to go before I can really say she will be drivable once again. But its slowly getting there...

It takes a lot of time to produce quality items. Especially when we aren't fully licensed mechanics. Good to see that you are spending so much time and dedication on this project.

Intake Manifold Vacuum Distribution Block

Here is another item which is not on your typical turbo kit but should be considered. Eventually you will find out that there will be far more requirements for additional vacuum source on a turbo setup to feed such items like the BOV, boost gauge, and others. Of course, you can use a couple of Tee connectors tied to an intake manifold vacuum source, but I personally am not too fond of them, especially of the plastic types.

So decided to go ahead and pick up an intake manifold vacuum distribution block... and I chose the Blox Racing kit from eBay Store, DOHC GARAGE.

This distribution block is designed to connect to the brake booster vacuum source. You can set it up in a "T" configuration, in which case this kit will contain everything you'll need. However, I decided to go with an inline configuration, and will need some additional stuff to complete this install.

Found the perfect spot for the install to be the location of the cruise control actuator. Since I intend to keep my cruise control I will need to relocate it.

The distribution block mounting holes are a perfect match. But you will need to drilled out a little of the billet in order to get longer 10mm mounting bolts to go through it. You also need to remove the metal brake booster vacuum tubing. It will need to be replaced with an 11/32" hose extended out to the intake manifold brake booster port.

Block off any ports you will not be using with the provided blind plugs. Keep in mind that there is a one-way brake booster check valve underneath that white plastic piece (to the right of the picture). Be careful not to discard the check valve and connect it back the correct way.

That black wiring running underneath the distribution block connects to the intake manifold and is the additional MAF ground mentioned earlier in my posts. That loose vacuum hose needs to be extended out to feed the cruise control actuator.

This will be the new location for the cruise control actuator. That 3/4" NPT plug in the distribution block inlet will be replaced with a 3/4" NPT barb.

Attached a small piece of vacuum hose to the main cruise control actuator vacuum hose with an inline adapter.

Update: 6/12/09

Here is a passenger side view of how it looks. The original brake booster vacuum line (VL) was removed and replaced with a new 11/32" vacuum hose connected between the intake manifold and the vacuum distribution block.

The only thing I would upgrade is the barb fitting/silver adapter. But I have not yet located one that is the same one as what came in this kit. But that'll work for now.

Finally, this section is completed.

Looking good! great idea for the vacuum distribution block.

What exactly does that brake check valve do?

Thanks.

The check valve allows the brake booster to fill up with vacuum. As soon and you press the brake pedal the check valve closes and this allows the vacuum to work against the master cylinder rod. When you release the brake pedal then vacuum "refills" the brake booster once again. That's why its called vacuum-assisted power brakes.

it also allows you to have several pumps of the brake pedal in the event that the engine dies while driving for a safe stop. this is actually one of the most important features of that check valve.

trust me. I use that check valve ALLLLL the time on my maxima... it's saved me from crashing many of times. Speaking of which, That's a great setup for the vacuum manifold. I'm going to copy you because you are a genius. or. Where are you going to get the 2nd barb from?

Thanks Bro'. I would like to use the same type of barb that came with this kit. So I'm thinking of either hitting up the eBay store I bought the Blox block from or Blox Racing themselves (though I don't see them selling it as a kit on their site). Let me know if anyone else locates a source for that barb so one of us can hold a couple on stock for others.

My vacuum block is setup the same way as yours. I wanted to do something the same but I never thought about it the same INTELLIGENT way that you did... I'll call golden eagle tomorrow and see if they have those fittings and I'll post here with the results. I'm a little curious about what you are going to do with the cruise control module though...

im not sure what size hose fitting you want but fastenal has a few 3/4" NPT fittings:

1/2" barb: Product Details | 1/2"Hose Barb x 3/4"MPT Air Line Brass Hose Barb Fitting | Fastenal
5/8" barb: Product Details | 5/8"Hose Barb x 3/4"MPT Air Line Brass Hose Barb Fitting | Fastenal
3/4" barb: Product Details | 3/4"Hose Barb x 3/4"MPT Air Line Brass Hose Barb Fitting | Fastenal

EDIT: and the best part about them is if there is a store locally they will order it for you and only charge $1 for shipping lol

Drunk, I found the fittings for your Golden Eagle vacuum block. Look at the bottom of the page from this link,

Vacuum Manifold : Golden Eagle Manufacturing

Its a little pricey but if you cannot locate a cheaper one anywhere then at least you have an option.

I've been to about a dozen places, from auto stores to specialty shops, looking for the fitting I need. They were able to identify mine as a SAE #8 O-ring boss (ORB). Only one shop had a different sized threaded barb fitting, that when used with an SAE adapter, works on mine. I bought that just in case I cannot locate the single fitting type. I wonder if that Golden Eagle fitting will work on my Blox.
