What is the most modified/built ka for the altima you guys know of? I'm planning on making a hell of a fast daily driver so i'm having a spare short block built. Here's what's in the works:
Carillo H-Beam Rods (Con-rod bearings will be clevite with a high performance coating)
CP Pistons 9:1 CR (With Thermal barrier coating)
Consworth Headgasket(abit thicker than stock to bump that CR down just a bit more..)
Stock CrankShaft(Balanced, Micropolished, clevite main bearings with high performance bearing coating)
Stock oil pump (ported)
That's pretty much it. I have heard way too many horror stories of spun rods on hi horsepower ka's so i'm also going to have the stock crankshaft modified to a high speed oil system(basically drilling some more holes for oil keep those damn bearings lubricated at high speeds.)
Pretty sure on all of the above, weakest link i believe will be the pistons, cp is a very good brand but i want the best of the best, any other recommendations? Or is cp as it good an option we have for the ka?

Been a while,thought i would chime in. Pauter machine(not cheap) makes the most durable rod for the ka in my opinion. plus 1 for cp pistons. What kind of power do you plan on making? Just make sure that your tranny gets some love as well, or none of that power will even make it to the cv joints,lol.

I'm really not sure how much power, i plan to raise the boost until i run into tuning problems on 93 octane, because it's my daily driver. I'll go as high as i can as long as i don't run into tuning problems (misfirings, knocking). And i what can i do to my tranny and axles to handle that power? Right now i have spare trannys and cv joints so that's my backup plan lol.
I want the car to be at the edge of traction on performance street tires, i have an aem with boost control, which can modify boost per gear and rpm, but if i had a number on it, i'd be happy with like 550whp and a reliable daily driver.
And altimatic i wanted to ask you, what year was your engine? You used the jwt s1 cams right? Did you use the jwt cam gears as well? What did you tune it with? I'd be happy to get 400whp at 20psi on my sc61 turbo, but last dyno we left off at 16psi and it only made 320whp and 330wtq with 2000 stock altima cams..
i personally dont think youll have many problems with the cv joints. the trans will give for sure - i went thru 2 just under nitrous alone. as for being on the edge of traction - brian easily did that with that car and drag radials. so what happened at the dyno specifically - was there not enough load dialed in? was the turbo just not making any more boost? cody ace had a problem on a dyno that would only let him boost to 19lbs.
Just minor tweaking of ignition timing was done the first three runs, then on the fourth, we installed a cold air intake and there was a huge jump in power and torque
The last run was @16.5 psi boost, the torque number still stayed very strong. I'm thinking the cams from 2000 altima engine are the least agressive of all the ka's, i definately wouldn't mind trading torque for hp, as well as moving my powerband to the right. I have jwt s1 cams but haven't gotten a chance to install them yet, but i hear their made for a na ka, and i'd need to install jwt cam gears for the s1 cams to work with a turbo.
