So i get my oil change at meineke cos its close to my house and i had no time. A week later in going around a turn...I gun it a bit, and then my car lost complete control, spin once aroung and smack into a curb, police come, yaddy yadda...they notice an oil slick about 100 yds to the crash scene and document it. I founf my filter about 25 yards away, it has completely come off and oil was spilling all over the place, got on the tires and i crashed. My insurance co paid for damages though i am appealing their surcharge/points and my deductible (one car accident). Zurich Ins. Meineke's insurance has contacted since i made a claim through meineke, they want to 'talk' to me. I'm sure they are gonna cover the damages (about 2K) but i would not mind some cash on the side, anyone have any experience with this type of situation? I didnt have my car for 2 weeks, no rental and now my car is leaking oil....well more than before, but they don't need to know my leaked about a capfull a week or so, sow it is a capfull every day.
any advice would be appreciated. I have tons of evidence against them, including the oil filter, police report, etc. I confirmed on the Pennzoil website that the wrong filter was used. they used a PZ109 (metric) vs, a PZ27 (standard) thread.

I will keep you posted, at first I was really pissed off (obviously) i was just about to get on the turnpike and if that would have happened there, I may not be writting this now. Then, i figured I would sue them, then I was just like I need my deductible back my points to come off my license etc, etc....but as most of us here, we could all use the coin. Plus although my car looks fine, I dont know the lonf term effects, plus like I said it seems to leak more oil now. So now it is something I have to monitor.
See if you can make a deal.. the hit them with the big suit... Your suit you should be able to come out with 50 to 75% more than the deal they try to make with you... ITS TIME FOR YOU TO GET PAID BRO!!!!!!!!!!

Ask for damages + rental car. If they pay up then no big deal. I don't see how you could honestly milk them for more money. A lawyer probably isn't going to get you more than that legally.

well lets see...if he was going faster on a highway he could have died...very easily. The siezure of his engine, and the oil on his tires on a highway could of cause other cars to spin out of control and his too causing a major accident...what about that?

^^^ This guy has a good point.. They didnt only put his life at risk but potentially others.. They caused his car to pollute the streets(oil). That much oil is damageing to the environment.. lol (not really) I think the guy stands a chance... If a lady can sue McDonalds for their coffee being too hot and win just cause she spilled some in her lap then he can do it....
