you bent your control arm. the thing about the passenger side axle though is that it has 3 bolts behind the engine holding it in. if it were on the drivers side, i'd just say that it's just popped out.

does it click when you shift into drive or park? or is it a manual?

it does click when i shift it into drive and park, but it always has.

is that really bad? the control arm? doesn't look to complicated of a design, but them again I'm used to working on my benz...

so is my axle F*cked? how much do you think it would cost?

Hopefully they wont total it.

well axel will cost u around 160$ including labour, and control arm is bent 100% because the wheel shifted all the way back it will run u about the same price as the axle.
I replaced both control arms when I hit the curb going 50mph cost me around 300$

axles are not that expensive I think about $80-90 before you turn in your old one, then you get money back, as for the control arm thats a bit more , when I did both of mine it ran about $140 bucks for each. I also did all the labor my self so you have to factor in a few hours of labor. I doubt it will be totaled.

If I can hit a deer at 55 in a 1st gen without totalling it, you'll be fine.

Id say it's just the control arm. If the axle is damaged it is ever so slight. The CV joint on them actually has a very large range of motion, so it is possible for it to still be ok. I'd strat with the controll arm then go from there. mind you neither piece is that expensive.

Thank you for all the replies, I'm not to worried about the money aspect of it but more of will it ever drive the same?
The insurance is paying for everything because they didn't find me at least 51% at fault.
also i noticed from other pictures i had it looks as though the spring has broken, and there is fluid around the shock. so I'm guessing i need new ones too.

I've found out the hard way that Nissan control arms are sacrificial.
It seems that they will take the grunt of damage. I've replaced a 1/2 dozen or so in Maximas/Altimas/Sentras over the years. I've never needed to replace the axle unless the boot tore. And, strut/spring seems to be hit or miss. If they have some time or miles on them, replace the strut anyway.
Yep, I don't hit huge pot holes and drive sideways into curbs anymore.
