midpipe? or just an adapter

Hey. Is the midpipe needed for a wai? Or are you better of just to get a MAF adapter and a cone filter? The ebay wai comes with the midpipe but you can also buy the maf adapter with a K&N filter. Just wondering what the benefits of the midpipe are besides being new and aluminum. Thanks for all the input.

Needed, no. Recommended, yes. The flow is smoother and it eliminates a resonator box that is in the stock midpipe. I've run both with and without, and I say to get the piping. The sound is definitely much improved.
