ecu is in fail safe mode....help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

car is stuck in third,ecu is giving a speed sensor malfunction code,but i was told that it is because the ecu is in a fail safe mode and check engine light is on and o/d won,t work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

well id sincerely doubt od would work... it sounds to me like you need to have a tranny shop take a look at that bish. you can try resetting the ecu via the screw on the side of it... for more info search

Speed sensor goes to the speedo first then the ECM. It's either the sensor, the wiring, or the speedo. Have you been playing with the dashboard?

Pull the trans fuse for a few mintues and put it back it. I have done that before and working fine after.

yes i had took the dash out to have it painted and when it was put back in is when i had the problems and i changed the cluster out already and still getting the fail safe mode.

yes my speedo works but the pass side window and door lock don't work along with the defroster switch,o/d,pass side power mirror,and cruise does'nt work..checked all the fuses under the dash all are good...thanks

i would say you forgot to plug in some harness or pulled on the harness so bad the wires came out... good luck get a multi meter and start there
