Just as a reminder to everyone. Our tanks hold that but other than canada, in the USA they often rip us off on fuel. As it gets hot outside, gas expands and your tank will hold less and the pumps that you goto are falsey and knowingly shorting us. When it is cold outside, they claim it evens out but it doesn't by a VERY longshot. The only way to test this on pumps to see how bad they are ripping us off is to get a 2 or 3 gallon gas tank then fill it up and check the temp.

In canada because it is colder than america, they would end up loosing money if they didn't have a device on 100% of the pumps to correct the issue. Americans are A-holes and would care less about if they are ripping us off.

When I had my 01 SE bone dry it would take 12.9 gallons everytime! The tank itself is about 15 gallons, was told by nissan that there is a recovery bypass that holds the rest which makes up the difference, never knew how much truth there was to that concept.

That explains why when your on E you actually have about 3 gallons left as a safety measure, trust me I use it all the time.

yeah that light is only a warning, you'll usually have about 1-2 gallons still. I remember driving about 50-75 miles with that light on...still made it to the gas station

I think we need a more digital way of telling how much gas is in our tanks. Full isn't full and empty isn't empty anymore. We need an exact number on how many gallons that are in our systems at any given time.

not necessarily. ive havent taken the fuel pump assembly apart yet so i cant say for certain, but theres a good chance that there is a certain amount of gas that you just cant get out of the tank (because of the way it is shaped and how the assembly floats inside, etc). idk how much... but dont assume you have 3 full gallons left when the light comes on or you'll end up getting stranded.

Its been pretty damn accurate for me. I know I get at worst 21 MPG, so with 3 gallons left I can go at least 63 miles before filling up.

the cobalt tells you how many miles you have left, but when it gets below 50 miles it just says low fuel and wont tell you how many miles you have left i agree we need a more accurate solution...
