Question 95 Altima GXE Speedometer Calibration

Hey,
Does anyone know how to calibrate and reset the speedometer? I put new tires and an alignment on the car last monday, and the speedometer is now 3 mph off at 55mph. I have a radar gun to verify this and I went to the repair shop today and they said that the speedometer cannot be calibrated. The ECU does have 3 codes, Speed Sensor A, O2 Sensor, and EGR Flow. Would any of these codes have to do with the speedometer being off by this much.

Thanks,
Ronald

Goodyear Viva2 205/60/R15 or it might be 205/65/R15 Not sure on the 60/65 part.....

I replaced all 4 tires then got the alignment with the new tires.

well, the 60/65 part makes a difference. The speed sensor feeds the speedo, so that could be at fault.

Reset the ECU and see which codes come back.

Well, I found that that the recommended Tires are 205/60R15 and since I have 205/65/R15, the 5 difference will cause my speedometer to be undereporting by ~3.2 MPH which according to my radar gun, it is correct. When my speedometer says 60MPH, I am going 63MPH. I didnt know that the little difference would make the speedometer off by 3MPH.

Well, there is a way that you can get a fixed speed. But it would be digital and would require some sort of cable hooked up. I've researched this greatly but just haven't had time to complete my project. What some of the people working on this project, they are ripping everyone off. Charging 80+ bucks for A SIMPLE cable. then ripping us off on software that doesn't work anyway. But some of the software that can be used be setup to show on a palm device and blahblahblah. you get the point. **I need to goto bed. haven't been there yet. **

Question

I am not really worried about it. I just waned to know if there was an easy way to recalibrate the speedometer for the 3 MPH difference. I know the speed is reported from the computer and even if I get a ScanGuage it will still show 60 when I am really doing 63. I do appreciate all of the help though.

Thanks
Ronald

10-4. Will call them tonight when I get home and see if they will be willing to change the tires. I have only had them for 2 weeks today. Hopefully they will.

Thanks,
Ronald

Wasn't faulting you, just offering advice for next time.

215/45-17 isn't exact for either my car or the Altima, but I've had them on both. No biggie.
