Sentra/Altima part swap??

If anyone has ever cared to notice, the speedometer clusters in a 00-01 Altima Look Exactly the same as the ones used in 02-03 Sentra SE-R,

I cant get the pictur to come up, but most of you know what im talking about. If not Google it.

My question is, will it fit? (I dont mean in the dash), is the wire harness the same, and if new or used can the od be rest to display the new car accuall miles????

Ive searched high and low and cant find this answer. I even went to the dealership, had the diagrams pulled up, and printed, but none of there "Techs" could give me a striate answer.

After looking at them myself, I think it will. but again, I dont really know.

I doubt it.

I can't give you a solid answer though. If they look so similar, why are you trying to swap them?

No, it won't work. With many of the the newer car designs, car manufacturers are taking advantage of a different design called, Controller Area Network (CAN). If you know how a computer Local Area Network (LAN) operates then you have the basis for how the CAN works.

The older speedometers in Nissans are electronic based while the newer Nissans are CAN based. What's the difference? Well instead of communicating via electrical signaling between control units, they communicate with each other through only two wires, and each control unit has its own CAN transceiver.

In summary, the Sentra has CAN connected to the ECU, ATCU, and combination meter (instrument cluster). While the older Altimas does not. The 2002 and newer Altimas even has a lot more systems integrated into CAN. So the disparity becomes wider.

Co-sign that one. Jserrano on the come thru again. Even without that info though, I would doubt the harnesses would even match up. But w/e, its not gonna work anyway.
