Interesting. Red Lion is Central, I'm 6 hours away from you.

I would expect you to do much better than us. We have quite a few complaints about our own setups and much improvements to be made.
Damn that is quite a list! So red is central so that means not the east coast right? I didn't realize that you were that close to me....i just figured different country so I can't count you as American east coast lol. You really expect me to do better than that? I'm gonna try....but at the rate i'm working on it you'll be miles ahead of me by the time I get to where you are now haha.

Anyhoo, enough bullshittin'.

Me in the engine bay, I just had to take these pictures:

The engine bay:

My buddies showed up to lend a hand:

The leaky dirty KA:

And a random pic of her just chillen where she's parked for the week:

and in case anyone cares....the maxima is a 5spd. Black on black leather. And it's in flawless mechanical and cosmetic condition. I want to buy it from my dad as a daily driver.

So I don't really feel like reading all the stuff I posted earlier, but I can definetly say this project is NOT where it started.

It started as a simple semi-wire tuck to cure some dangerous tire rubbing. This is whats gonna get done now (obviously some of it has been done):

Degrease engine
Replace all engine gaskets (besides head gasket)
Remove A/C
Remove Power steering
Remove Egr completely
Rewire fuse boxes into glove box
Completely tuck all engine bay wires
Paint engine bay gloss black

And possibly paint the valve cover. And possibly spot weld (seam weld) a few spots here and there in the front end. Nothing crazy though. Still not sure about it.

Best of luck man. It should really help clean things up. How long are you figuring it'll take to get done.

Once you have the engine out it gets really easy to take it apart. Make sure you catalogue and image process all components. Torque specifications can be found on both nicoclub as well as ka-t. Of course, utilize your FSM as well.

For right now im not driving anything i live in a house at school so during the week i dont need a car. I just come home on the weekends to my parents house to work on the altima since thats where my garage is.

I'm not going to rebuild the engine since i dont have the time or the funds. I did put all my bolts in ziploc bags and labeled them to keep everything straight.

It actually should be easier to put everything back since im removing so many things that I wont have to put back in the engine bay. I plan to finish up by the end of my spring break from school which is the first week of march.

on a side note this is the first time i've posted from my phone so i hope it turns out well

I'm definetely painting the inside of the engine bay gloss black. Also probably filling in the random bolt holes that will no longer be used with welds.

I was thinking of painting the block because it looks kindof rusty. But I don't want to because I'm planning on building a different motor anyway for boost, so i'll probably have the new engine's block powdercoated silver. This engine I really don't care too much about. Also, unless I paint it absolutely perfectly the paint will probably chip off in a year or so. And at that point it'll look better to just not paint it.
