nissan altima 1999 CAI

Hi guys... another question again from noob. I asked one of the mechanic if I can install CAI or WAI for nissan altima 1999. he said to me that my car cant use intake because there's computer system for the air flow, so if it is taken out and replaced with CAI or WAI the car wont start. can you guys please verify that statement for me?

Yeah I can confirm that your mechanic is wrong. As long as you still have your MAF and there are NO leaks then your good to go. Not sure why he would say something so stupid..

^+1. But I understand. My mechanic would rather I be happy the car starts and drives.
But, like Warmachine said, as long as your maf is connected and there are no leaks, your good to go.

Won't start? LOL. Yea it won't start if you install the MAF backwards or something.

I recommend not going to that mechanic anymore, becuase if he's that stupid who knows what else he would screw up when working on your car.
